It's obviously your call, but I think paying 150 bones for a new putter is worth it.  I know it's used, but the putter comes back absolutely mint.  It looks and feels brand new when it comes back.  There are also other things you can change like shaft, shaft band and loft and lie angle.  If you've got the $ I'd do it.  There's something special about getting a yellow box from the CS

Last year when I looked in to this, it was $150 and there were a few cool covers options (that I thought at least) were free.  Now it's $200 and only one free putter cover option (which I'm not very fond of).  So to get just restoration and a cover I'm looking at $241.  Not sure about any shipping charges or tax.  Add in any custom work and I'll easily approach $300.  For that price range I can look at a slightly used or even a new putter.  I really want to have it done, but I think I'm just having trouble talking myself in to it.  

I think that it's a decision that you have to make, do you think that you'll want to keep the putter for a long time. I think that you could pick-up a better condition PP NP2 for less then the cost of a restoration or sell that putter and pick-up a mil-spec.

I agree with Josh's comments.  I have done several restorations and I've always been happy with the results.  Two of the putters that I sent in were purchased used and in horrible shape. I purchased them for really cheap, well under $100.  Once I sent them in and paid for restoration, it was like I received a new putter for less than the normal retail price - and I got to customize them to my liking.  Enabler # 2.

Thanks guys, my wife will appreciate your enabling!  haha.  I don't know what I'm going to do.  As soon as I think I've made up my mind, I second guess myself.  I'd like to have my putter looking brand new, but I'd also like to have a Studio Select Newport 2.  Maybe I can sneak both past my wife......

I bought my Newport from the store for about $249 a few years ago, never used.  Decided to send it out last year, not to get restored but to get it customized.  BEST.THING.I.EVER.DID. 

Best part was, I didn't order it to be restored but when I got the putter back (about a month later) I thought they might've restored it by accident but they didn't.  Scotty truly did a great job and I have plans in the future to send more in.

I highly recommend doing it if you have the money and can be without the putter for a month or two.  So glad I did it.

I have a Newport 2 that I have had restored TWO times, adding small customizations and personalization both times and changing the colors.  If you love your putter and you are planning on keeping it, and you have some cash to reat yourself.... why not?  I will be sending mine again this winter to get some minor dings taken out and changing the paintfills again.  Is it worth it?  To me it is, but it's a personal call.  On thing for sure is that when you get it back it looks completely brand new... absolutely mint.
