I have been using the same Studio Select newport 2 putter for the past 7 years and I am looking to get a new one.  Trying to get away from the newport look any suggestions for left handed scotty's?

  2. Try a Golo! especially the new Golo 6...blade like but a different look!

    Good Luck!

I don't know what "look" you are after. Fastback and round back are "mallet" type. I have a PGA super store 60 miles from me so if I were in the market I would go there to Test Drive a few.

I am at the other end of the spectrum, I just switched from a TM880 Mallet to a Scotty Cameron Select Newport 2, 34 " putter and looking forward to putting it in play this weekend. I considered the Scotty Cameron GOLO3 which is very similar to my TM880, in the end I decided on the blade vs. mallet just for a different look.

I have always played a blade and loved it. I was not planning on a new putter, but I was down at TPI for my fitting and when I was waiting, they had a putting green and ALL of the Scottys you could hope to play around with. The Golo 3 caught my eye and then I hit a few with it... Wow, me likey!

I ordered it with some customization and now just waiting for it. The bad part is the waiting and trying to putt when you know you have a new putter coming!

When I started playing golf in 1984 I began with the png Pal and have continued with that style of putters, even when playing the Cally putters. Since converting to Titleist in 2011, I also play the Newport 2 and love it. It has been a very consistent putter for me, I guess, because I have used that style for so many years. Might suggest going to a fitter and see what style is best for you. I currently game a Newport Notchback Select. The black finish is worn and ratty looking, and have changed the weights from 10g to 15g. Has a Midsize Matador grip wrapped in tennis leather black tape. Not the prettiest, but a mean putting machine. Have thought about changing many times, but always come back to the black beauty. She treats me well. But you know, if I don't stoke it properly, makes no difference at all. Again, go see a fitter. I did.

Golo 3 is what I have so that is what I recommend I love the Golo 3 because of its maximum toe flow and it fits my eye but you get what you want because that's the most important club in the bag!

Matt, be careful...   Like you I've been playing with a Studio Select Newport for a while and thought I would change it up a bit.  Not b/c i was putting poorly or anything, just wanted something "new".   Well, tried out a few and ended up getting a GoLo 3.   Worst mistake I ever made.  Played 2 rounds; Round 1 - 35 putts, Round 2 - 37 putts.   Yup, it was gone and sold it.  Barely had it for 2 weeks.

I did get a Notchback, black mist a few weeks back and tried that.  LOVED IT!  Almost similar to the Newport but i like the black mist and the weight of it is perfect.

    I guess i'm a blade guy....

You know the saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"...

I play the Select Newport 34.5" w/15g weights. I putt very well with it and I believe not having the alignment line clears my mind, as my speed is very good with it. I liked the modern look of the Futura X5 putter, so I purchased a 35" standard model, big mistake as it didn't come close to fitting my stroke, also struggled on speed. I sold the X5 and haven't looked back, however I am now considering re-gripping my Newport putter with the Matador Mid Size for a slight change?
