I recently decided to bring out my Newport 2 TeI3 out from the closet after playing with a Newport 2.7 Studio Select for the past few years, and had my best round of putting in recent memory. Since then I have acquired a 1997 Newport 2 Classic, and a 2001 Newport 2 Pro Platinum.

Anyone else here still playing with the earlier model Camerons? I have just fallen in love with the old stuff all over again.

  2. I still have ALL my old camerons from the 90's but I have found the newer models to be better for me game. For instance, deep milling on the face was not used in older models, advanced weight and MOI considerations were not utilized as they are in current models.

However, like most things golf, if it is working go with it!!

    Good Luck!!

Great to hear you had a great putting round with your trusty old Newport 2 Tei3. For me, putters are one of those items that goes into a bag in your closet and are ripe for recycling. I have also found that making a change and pulling out an old putter can change up your putting significantly. If nothing else, all of the old Scotty's need to let the Scotty you are playing with know there is competition out there. Perform or go into the closet with the rest of the old putters!

I love all of the older Cameron putters and I'm still using a Mil-Spec.
Had an old tour putter but I can't get the Mil-Spec. out of the bag.

Tour T10 Select Newport 2 and a Newport Button Back are my gamers. Not that old, but not "new" either....

I'm currently using tel3 Santa Fe. Have had my best rounds lately with it.
  7. I cannot get my California Del Mar out of my bag. I've tried MANY other putters and continue to go back to my trusted Del Mar!

I change-out putters all too frequently looking for something that probably doesn't exist, I can't seem to improve on my Studio Design no. 1.

I just added a new putter to the bag a 1999 Sante Fe tel3. Not new but when I got it about a month ago grip was still in plastic and had never been used. So technically new just not a new model.
  10. Actually just started playing the 1997 Newport 2 Classic and I absolutely love it! It's amazing how good it feels off the face and how consistently I'm putting now.
