I bought a futura to complete my bag last winter. I tried the putter in the store and my previous putter was a jailbird, so I havent been putting well. Im a average golfer shooting in the mid 40s. I went back to my old putter and same result...its just not there. I dont like the feel anymore and have no confidence. So Im reaching out to you all for suggestions on some of your favorite putters and which ones I should try. One I was considering was the Newport 2 or 2.5. What are all you thoughts, thanks in advance, Mike.

I say you should go get fit for the right putter. You may just need to tweak the loft and or lie of your current Scotty!

My best advice is to find what you feel most confident with (in regards to any club). When I came back to the game I started out with a 2-ball protype and it was absolutely money!! That at least helped me with control but then I wanted something smaller so went through quite a few blades before finally finding my Studio Select NP2. After that it took a while finding the right grip/length/lie/loft. I worked with a master club fitter at my local Golfsmith to get everything right. Ever since then...the club has yet to be kicked out of the bag!
  4. I sacked at putting. Had no confidence and no touch in my stroke. Got fitted for a putter and made the choice to go with a Newport Select 2.5. My putting has improved a lot but it also takes practice as well

Spend some time trying different styles, even styles you never thought about trying. So much of putting is confidence, so practice is going to be your greatest ally with putting. If you have a local fitter it may be worth a visit to see what you roll best.

If you change the grip to the Matador Mid, what effects will that have on the performance of this putter?
