Counterbalance question

    I just picked up my first Scotty putter. . It has a super stroke grip that accepts counterbalance weights. Currently it just has a cap on it. I have never tried counter balance on a putter. What is the reason behind it and what do I look for if I try it?

    The other reason is to lower swing weight or how heavy or light the putter head feels as you swing. Basically beyond that there is no added value.
