Teryllium Insert Wearing/Peeling

  1. I purchased a Scotty Cameron Champions Choice Button Back Flowback 5.5 from Carl's Golfland last August. I haven't even used the putter on the course, let alone putted a ball with it and I noticed the teryllium insert has started wearing/peeling away and look dis-colored from the rest of the face. If I have Carl's Golfland send the putter to Titleist, will anything be done? Is this some sort of defect, I assume it's under warranty. Will they fix it, replace it?

  2. It's the type of metal used for the insert. It will patina if left out of a head cover in certain temperatures. You need to keep it oiled, and in a dry headcover. You can use certain products to clean it off to bring back to normal again, although make sure it's safe for copper. There are some forums online that discuss this. Over time it will come back again even after you clean it.
  3. Thanks for the info! The crazy thing is, the putter never got wet and has been stored in an extra bedroom. I will def. keep that in mind for the future use. Carl's Golfland was able send the putter to Titleist for me and they're going to polish/refinish it as a one-time courtesy.
