    Hi - Looking for best practices and recommendations for caring for your putters (e.g., washing/cleaning) and how often the grip needs to be replaced.

    I have alaways used a Scotty head cover when not in use .have always cleaned putter head and shaft and grip with damp clean towel on bag also the grip in my opinion wear is minimal unless you play professional so that is how I have kept most important club in bag and most used looking like new.

    Always always always keep the cover on. Wipe down after each shot and clean it when round is complete. If the putter is going to sit for a week I like to use the Scotty cloth and wipe it down. I only replace the grip when it needs it or want to give it a new look. It's not only a valuable piece of your equipment, it's also an investment. Treat it as such.

    I definitely agree with Harry h on always keeping a headcover on my Scotty. I've noticed others who don't use headcovers tend to get bag chatter impacts. A good practice is washing the grip 1/week or 1/month to preserve depending on frequency of play. I probably should wash the clubhead more than I do.

    On washing ...I've found soap and water with a toothbrush works well on the grips.

    I like to replace grips once a year but if I've cleaned them regularly they remain tacky for up to 2 years.

    I wipe down my putter head down as I use it and give it a cleaning with soap and water when needed. Keeping the milled facing clean is a must. As to the grip, I play GolfPride Tour SNSR 104CC Black/Red grips. Love the pistol grip, the size and how long GolfPride last, with proper care.

    Like most people I use water with a little dish soap when needed for a good cleaning.

    Also wipe the putter clean after each hole and put the cover back on.
