Most of you are aware of what Tiger Woods has gone thru the past several years regarding his physical aspects. Two years ago at the Masters he said in the Champions dinner he was pretty much done. Would not play again. Then after that, he had his lower back fused. Now he said for the 1st time he is playing pain free....and winning.

My question to my fellow Team Titleist members. What is the best come back in golf?

Was it Tiger Woods or was it Ben Hogans's comeback? Before you answer, do some research on Ben Hogan's injury and miraculous comeback 11 months later. I think you will be surprised what Hogan went thru.

I'd still have to vote for Ben Hogan, but I suspect that might be a generational thing.

Both comebacks were extremely impressive and I would be interested to hear of a similar comeback in a different sport.

John Feinstein wrote an article today that brings up something I'd overlooked. I don't know how I could have forgotten about this since Erik lived a few blocks away.

"There’s also the Erik Compton story. He had a heart transplant at 12; a heart attack at 28; a second heart transplant and came back to finish T-2 in the 2014 U.S. Open. No one in sports has ever done anything like that."

    That's a whale of a comeback...

Dennis, that is a very impressive come back. I had forgotten the complete story on Erik Compton.

I still think it took the most for Tigers. He had public humiliation and multiple injuries and years between wins takes the cake in my book. I would also throw in John Daly I have met him personally and he is a funny guy.

All great points, and I've never been a Tiger fan. BUT......it is without a doubt among the greatest comebacks in the history of sport. And I'm glad Dennis remembered to bring up Compton, even if it was by way of Jon Feinstein. While he never had the successes of Hogan and Woods, after what he went through to return to the competition of the PGA tour......Wow!. I would give the nod to Hogan, based on coming back so quickly from near death injuries, based on the timeline. Woods took a lot longer, BUT had numerous setbacks to cope with. Not matter what, even not being a Tiger fan, the jury remains out still on where Tiger may go from here. There's no denying, they are and were all great for the game. And that's what it's all about.

I'd have to go with TW only because I've seen so many people have full recoveries from near fatal car accidents but spinal fusion should have been a career ending moment. that and tiger was 5 years older and had gone thru more than just physical failures. both extremely impressive ... I'm just happy to see Tiger back : chasing 82!
