Curious what extra clubs people have with them for the course. I never play competitively but try to stick by the rules as much as possible (14 clubs in the bag) Right now I have two extra clubs; a 718 TMB 2i for the tighter courses I may for driving, and an oil can vokey for when my PW is not cooperating.

I have thought about adding a 716 TMB 3i to match my 4 and 5 TMBs to replace 3 wood if I need to.

what all extra does everyone else have?

5 wedges and a 4W, all vary by the course in play. May use 3 wedges, or 2 wedges and add the 4W

In the trunk in my extra carry bag are 2 712U (predecessor to the TMB) 2 and 3 irons, a 715 5 wood (refuse to call it a 5 metal), 975d 13.5 deg. 3 wood with a Titleist Select shaft, from 20+ years ago (very low trajectory for the wind), a 2nd Scotty, a California Del Mar, a few years old, (for when my Red X doesn't cooperate, or the greens are real slow), and even a 20+ year old 1 iron, for really tight fairways. I know Lee Trevino said "....only God could hit a 1 iron", but for years it was my favorite go to club for short par 4's and tight fairways. They don't get much or a work out or use, but they are there for the special purpose when they might be needed.

I have a spare bag that stays in the closet. It has a variety of clubs in it, mostly putters and wedges, but there's the odd driver too. Sometimes I'll pull out a different putter if I'm playing somewhere there are really slow greens. Sometimes I pull out a wedge with a deeper sole if I play somewhere the bunkers have looser sand in them.

Generally, based on nothing more than who I can play with and where, I wind up at the same place 99% of the time, so nothing moves in and out of my bag all that much.

Maybe a different wedge and putter in the back of my SUV. A depends of the type of sand in traps and speed of the greens we are playing that day. Never more than 14 clubs in bag when on course.

I actually only carry 13 clubs. 1-3-5 woods, 26 deg hybrid, 6,7,8,9,P and W AP1's and 54 & 58 SM7's and a Scotty. After much experimenting, this configuration is all I need to get around the golf course.

I have none. I used to be a 13 club man but now up to the 14 limit. Driver, 2 fairways, 4-pw, 3 wedges and a putter for me.

Dude sounds like a sweet set up. It reminds me of an older fellow i play with in a Friday night golf league at a public course. He must have 20-25 clubs in his bag LOL! I think its awesome, personally i like to follow the rules too, but this kinda stuff shouldn't matter in recreational golf. He has all those clubs, and its helps him have fun out there. the more the merrier!

Eric, If you want to have some fun with this guy, after the round is over, walk up to him and tell him he was in violation of USGA Rule 4-4 for exceeding the 14-club limit. The penalty is two strokes for each hole where the breach occurred, up to a four-stroke limit.

14 clubs in the bag, always play by the rules.

I do have some other clubs that I will swap out, but really not all that often.

I have a different 3 metal set up as well as a hybrid and TMB3, but they have not seen the light of day in a few months.

If you do decided to play any type of competitive golf, just make sure to count those clubs prior to your round...It would really stink to have someone call you on the violation....

    Best of luck to you

I normally carry 14 clubs, but every now and then I will see a old faithful club sitting in the corner of the garage (hybrid, or TMB 3I ). I will throw it in the bag and plan on hitting it 4 or 5 times that day.

    Boring 14 club man here,
    TS2 driver, ts2 3 wood, 818h2 hybrid,
    4,5,6,7,8,9 and pw 718 ap2 irons, 60,56,50 sm7 wedges and Scotty Cameron X7 putter. ïļâ€â™‚ïļïļ
  14. Yeah, strict 14 club man...
There are a few old bats in the garage - Wilson 1 iron, a huge 64* lob wedge, couple of putters, that sort of thing...
By and large, I part-ex my out-going bats these days - I know I don't get full value but I'm not a big on eBay and I'm not sure I'd get much more for them in net terms after all that messing anyway.

  15. I run a 4-PW, 50 degree, 56 degeee, 4 hybrid, 3 wood, and driver
  16. I play in 2 men’s clubs at different courses. At 1 course I carry my 3W but at the other I carry my 2H instead. It’s a gapping issue for par 5s. I also have 3 different 58 Vokeys that get swapped out depending on time of year. Summer bermuda requires the highest bounce, winter rye the least.

It seems to me that every round has different needs so, I carry a 3 hybrid, 2 iron, 3 iron and an extra putter in the bag along with a 52 and 58 wedges with different bounces. My regular wedges have 8 degree bounce and the extra wedges have 12 degrees. I've found what clubs are best for wet, soft, firm and windy conditions and place those is the "play bag" of 14 clubs during tournament play. I also have reserve 60 and 62 degree wedges for when playing courses with severely elevated, firm greens.

The idea is I have pretty good idea of what to place in the bag given the course being played, the turf conditions and the weather. After that, you still ready to improvise and that's why Pros are so much better than us mere mortals.
  18. I like to play driver, 3 wood, 3-W, 3 wedges and putter. If I did anything I would add a wedge and get subtract an iron. I would consider myself an iron player so I love to have the 3-W in the bag with an assortment of wedges which most of the time is a 52,56, and 60. All vokey wedges.

I usually carry an extra beat up wedge to use when I end up near some pebbles or rocks. It's an old Cleveland BeCu 56 that I don't mind if it gets dinged up. It great out of the sand as well. Aside from that I usually swap between a 7 Wood and a 4 iron depending on the course I play.

Always 14 or less for me, but this reminds me of a funny time when we frequently played the Paiute Resort in Las Vegas. It was funny because the locals taught me to carry a "ROCK CLUB". Out there, just off the roughs of fairways are beds of river stones and lava rocks. If your ball astray from the fairways and find your self in it, you can play it if you can where it lies, but you don't have to have a forged club for it to be ruined by taking a shot out of that junk- it will tear and shred your clubs apart so having a club you don't care about being chewed up to get your self out of trouble made sense to me. For that reason, I've adopted the Rock Club. I don't carry a rock club anymore. Not because I don't hit it in the junk anymore, ...I've just been taking relief :-)

I carry 14 clubs and have spare driver (905R) in my trunk in case my 917D2 isn't cooperating after 9. Then he goes in the bull pen. Usually gets thru on the next round. I carry 915H 17, 915F, 716AP2 3-PW, 50 & 56 Vokey and a Scotty will get me thru my rounds.
