    This is the time of year where tournaments wind down, work events on the course dwindle, and a new type of golf emerges out of the sick depths of our local green keepers....the superintendent's revenge! A best ball format from hell where every hole is harder than the next...pins cut in impossible places, swing lefty when you are a righty (and vise versa), teeing it up with a lawnmower eaten ball, and quirky add ins that make you scratch your noggin. I like them per5, always play one in Lyman Orchards in CT with the wife, twin brother, and father and its coming up soon. Question is how do you all like them, what do you think of them? Would love to hear some funny stories peppered in as well if you got them.

    My wife and I played in a few of them. Only difference was we had a 8" cup with the standard cup in the middle. Your ball could hit the edge of the hole and actually bounce out. They did put the hole on slopes, a foot off the green or any extremely difficult place. You see the hole and your eyes would get so greedy and then you would 3 putt. It was fun, but extremely difficult.

    One of the local courses has a similar event. They move the tee boxes all around. On the 1st hole everyone tees off from the tips, after that if you bogey or higher you tee off from the ladies tee if you birdie you tee off from the tips. Only difference is these boxes are not on their original boxes. Pin locations are like already been said 1 foot on a slope front of the green or back corners 1-2 feet on the green. Some sand traps have 3ft nets in front you have to clear to get out of them. They are a lot of fun but don't expect a great score, it will bite you quickly if you get greedy. These are 4 person team events and sometimes 2 person events...

    Can say I follow that concept. We play pretty much 365 here in SC, except for the heavy rains or an occasional Hurricane. We have a saying down here when the conditions are exactly the way we want, we all play the same course, kinda puts it in perspective. With respect.

    Never played in one but it sounds like a nice change-up towards the end of the season.
