    Did you know not all urethane golf ball covers are the same?

    Titleist urethane golf ball covers utilize a proprietary thermoset process. This requires the mixing of two separate components on our manufacturing floor. Once mixed, the liquid urethane is cast into Titleist-manufactured cavities which form the appropriate dimple pattern into the cover. Curing timing and temperature are integral to the consistency of the urethane and the performance you experience on the golf course.

    Titleist engineers monitor the cover molding process around the clock, confirming numerous physical properties to ensure our covers are made to our exact specifications.

    From mixing to casting, this proprietary Titleist process allows us to create a urethane formulation that is incredibly soft and pliable, but also very tough - giving you the control and feel you demand and rely on for a confident short game.

    Yep Emily, I remember playing Titleist's first tour-level wound urethane covered ball. The Professional. Probably before you were even born....

    I remember those Dale. They came in 90 and 100 compression.

    I'm still so thankful that the Balata ball finally succumbed to the ever advancing Titleist technology. I could look at a Balata and cut it. I don't think I ever finished a complete round with the same Balata ball I started with.

    I enjoy the soft feel of the PRO-V1, and the spin around the greens is helpful as well.

    Playing at Bing Maloney Golf & Swim during the summer I really count on the soft feel. Summer in Sacramento can be hot, but the PRO-V1 keeps the Birdies coming!

    Few people today understand when I say, “put a smile on that ball!” Just getting older I guess. ProV1x for me. Learned about compressing the ball when the pro hit one thru a thin icee of wood

    Are all Titleist balls of the same mixture or do the covers vary from model to model?

    Different materials and different number of layers. You should try and take the Ball Plant 3 tour some time. Very interesting and informative not to mention a chance to get to the TT merchandise store.

    I use ProV1, and have used ProV1x. Is the cover urethane the same on both or is the “x” a less flexible composition? Seems to be a harder cover, or is the core harder?

    I like both the Pro V1 & the Pro V1x, but prefer the Pro V1.
    I also took a tour Ball Plant 111, and found it amazing.
    This has probably been brought up before but, what do the letters "Y H'', that are stamped in 2 separate dimples signify?

    Oh Manny, I thought I had gotten that picture out of my head and you brought it flooding back. Too many wasted Titleist Balata 90's. People that think the "shank" is the worst shot in golf but nothing sicker to me than to thin a balata ball and have to throw it away.
