For many years since my son was little, I've introduced him to the game, but his interests then were more about hanging at the pool with burgers and soft drinks instead. Fast forward twenty some years later, early this year, I've been hearing about his outings with his friends at some little courses- they've been having a blast. Early last month, I got a text from him that reads: "Dad, what type of clubs should I look into?"

This may be the best thing that came out of the year 2020 yet. He's dug out videos and lessons from my swing coach on his own. He's been working at the range early on weekends since. He calls and text me frequently about golf. He remembers the etiquette about being dressed properly on the course- bought golf wardrobes and loves his FootJoy shoes and he said, he wants to learn to play good golf.

    Thanks for reading Team Titleist.

Thats a cool story, the thing i think is so unique about golf is being able to pass it on to the next person. Sounds like you had a part in it, awesome job!

I have a picture of my oldest when he was 3 (he's 37 now) taking a rip on our 3rd tee box with an old 5 wood I cut down. This was 1986. Cell phones were non existent. I took the picture with an old Kodak camera. I used to take him out for 9 in the evenings.I'd carry a sunday bag with 7 or 8 clubs and have him on my shoulders. He loved it!Come to think of it he loved the wildlife and being with dad more than the golf.

Fast Forward to 2020. He's a 5 handicap with 3 kids of his own. His oldest is 5 and has that pic on his mirror in his bedroom. He's been on the course for a couple holes with his dad as well. Looks like the passion for golf is transcending generations in our family, and for that I'm vey grateful.

In 1984, the year after he was born, myself and 2 other guys started a 2 man best ball event at our course (it's a typical muni;we didn't have a golf professional then or now so we do everything ourselves...scoring, groupings etc).Next Saturday July 25th will be the 36th running of that event. We'll be playing together for only the 3rd time, and on my birthday no less! (I'll let all of you know how we did).

Golf, much like life, comes full circle. You get back what you put in.
