  1. How do y'all feel the course at Winged Foot is playing? I, as much as anyone, love seeing JT atop the leaderboard (-4 through 14 as of the time of this post) but this week all the lead up for Winged Foot was the high scores with there not being a winner below par since 1984 when the winner was -4, so how does everyone feel about the course and championship so far?

I personally like that the course is playing well if you hit fairways and make some creative shots but if you get into that rough it gets challenging and you have to be busy to scramble for par.

Note: I realize its lunchtime on day 1 and there is a lot of golf yet to be played.

Should be a fantastic tourney. Love the set-up and the greens look evil to putt. Well they might actually be fun to putt if you weren't doing it for a living!

I know that feeling all too well! I front loaded work this week to have Thursday and Friday open to watch. At least you get to see the weekend, a little bright spot!

Open rough will take it's toll, and think you could probably hide Easter eggs in it. Those pros who can keep it in the fairways and can putt will be at the top of the leader board. You are right it is early and glad to see JT at the top. The other two hot players Rahm and DJ could make it interesting if they stay in the short grass and I feel it could be one of these three. Of course being from S Carolina, I do pull from DJ, and he is pretty darn strong in every aspect of his game lately, but always support the FJ/Titleist guys. Those greens will be, oh so fast by Sunday, and will need mini parachutes on their golf balls. Love the coverage...dusk to dawn....one great weekend of golf....US Open style.
  6. I agree on the rough, Friday and early this morning (Saturday) the rough and the course are beginning to show their teeth. It’s fun watching the pros have to scramble and get creative with their club choice and shot shaping. As a South Carolinian I too enjoy seeing DJ do well, Kisner as well although DJ is the more consistent bet for a top finish.

Now that TW spit the bit, Im really pulling for Justin! His game looks to be on point! The course looks to be a beast and for once I enjoy seeing or I should say one commercial... The 2021 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines!!!

Pulling for JT! This is only day 1, but I truly believe the course will bear its teeth before it’s over. Still think winning score over par.
  10. We definitely saw the teeth bared on day 2, and the early rounds on day 3 it doesn’t seem to be letting up.

I'm definitely rooting for JT. If the weather allows/plays it hand, the greens are likely to get firmer and faster for the weekend.

Looking forward to watching round 2. At -5, JT is looking strong.

The course looks amazing and am loving the coverage. I wish that the greens were a little firmer in the end and believe that they will throughout the week. I would like to see the winner -2 to even in the end. I do think they will firm up and par will be a better and better score throughout the week.
  14. Visually the course looks great but the early scores are not what you expect from the US Open. This time of year it is hard to get it firm and fast. Too much moisture in the greens overnight even if they cut them down more. The rough seems to be both playable and penal as well depending on where it is and who is hitting the shot. Even the fairways seem to be wide enough to hit but you do need to hit the correct sides to account for the roll off. Let's see what today brings. Could double digit under par be a possibility?

I think it’s great to see the pros scramble for pars......instead of the usual smash it as far as possible then chip on......

The best player with the flatstick will prevail. Looking forward to Sunday

No one picked the smashers to win this one. The number one and number two finishers were both long ball hitters.
The things about them is that their swings are fast enough to advance the ball out of the rough. I wonder what the odds were on Bryson winning the US Open. Was an interesting Open. Tight fairways and small greens. Now on to the Masters. Bombers away.......
