    Just a commercial I saw amusing over the week on the Golf Channel. He's back............. Yes, the Hammer is back. Now with a red (hollow upside down) head and shaft. And - with a tutorial by the Hammer guy himself.

    BOOM!!!! 400+ yards in your reach!!

    Didn't check to find out if there is an infomercial (I'm not that bored staying at home). But one of the classic informercials rivaling anything Billy Mays promoted, so good it lives again.

    My son and I were laughing about the same ad! I tried yelling ‘boom’ today on the course ... nothing went 400 yards!!

    That is so classic!! Check out the review that Rick Shields did on the Hammer on his YouTube channel, it's pretty funny!

    I watched the video and noticed 2 things.
    1. We never see where the ball ends up!
    2. You'll notice he doesn't have any playing partners.

    Always desperate for more distance, I was excited early in my career when the prior informercials hit late night tv. The online comments of the "marks" that paid money for it were both sad and funny. The best reviews were losing 20% distance and the worst couldn't even get it past using a putter off of the tee. Funny, so long as it wasn't your money.

    One of the guys in my league showed up with a G700 driver. It would have been an acquired taste. I think G700 was the swing weight. It was like swinging a maul axe. Never saw it a second time. If you want to hit the golf ball like an athlete, then spend your money on golf-focused athletic training, not informercial snake oil.

    Jack "The Hammer" Hamm. Classic late night infomercial. I love the camera trickery that gave the illusion he drove it over the mountain...

    Many years ago, I actually saw one in a bag at a course and all I could think of was yelling POW!!! as loud as I can.

    Funny. I work an event in my area Pro/Am Jam and Sean "The Beast" Fister does a demo at the event on the course at one of the tees and the teams get to use his drive. No gimmicks, just raw power. He lives in the Mt Pleasant area where I live and works at the Dennis Johnson teaching school in Murrells Inlet as an instructor. I wonder how the hammer would match up with Sean's numbers?

    *** Longest carry in a World Long Drive Championship of 394 yards (unofficial 466 yards)
    *** Fastest recorded club head speed of 171.2 mph (extended club)
    *** Fastest recorded ball speed of 218 mph

    Think it would be interesting to compare his equipment in his prime, which was factory equipment, against the hammer....... With respect and as they say, curious minds.......
