Has Titleist ever considered doing a rewards/ points program for purchases through their site?

I know TM has one through products ordered through their site, and now that you can order clubs directly through the Titleist website this seems like a perfect opportunity to introduce some sort of program. 1 point for every product purchased and different rewards at different levels (free shipping, product sneak peaks, free 2 day shipping, special contest entries, the ever elusive TT bag tag). They could also display your points level next to your posts allowing us hardcore TT members to really show off our loyalty.

I know its a shift in business model but heck I'm already going to be buying Titleist clubs, hats, balls and accessories so why not do it through their site and give them more of the profits.

    What are y'alls thoughts?

    Hey Bentron,
I think that is a great idea, I have been playing Titleist equipment for over 20years. One thing about starting a loyalty program is that nothing would be taken away from this forum as it is here for advice and great conversation. I'm pretty sure I heard that TM offers a 10-15% military discount when you order off their site.

Either way I'm in the same boat you are as I will continue to outfit my golf game with Titleist equipment and gear.

    Cheers,

It's an interesting idea. I do like they way they are doing it currently with Team Titleist. I've been very impressed with their end user engagement. To me, a loyalty program related to purchase frequency (and possibly amount) may alienate Titleist enthusiasts because the incentive is tied to purchases. I've seen more than a few Team Titleist members (both on this forum and on the private Facebook page) who are still gaming older sticks and I'd suggest their brand loyalty is no less than another member who has the latest Titleist gear.

Like you, I'm curious the thoughts other members have about this subject. One thing that can be done now to show brand loyalty is to display our current Titleist setup (clubs, bag, ball, shoes, etc...) underneath our avatar. I see this in many different forums so, it wouldn't be something out of the ordinary.
  4. As someone who has spent my fair share of money on Titleist equipment, I think this would be great.
  5. I got through a lot of Titles it golf balls and end up spending up to 350.00 in golf balls would love it if I could once in a while get a gift card or something from my dad for like a buy one get one free box of golf balls for my birthday. He is the one who got me hooked on golf playing and watching when I was twelve years old and I am now 50. He still plays golf and is retired in Clearwater Florida and plays golf at least 4 times a week and I play golf at least three times a week in California.

I think it is important to to have a good relationship with the PGA pros in the local shops and titleist accounts.
Fittings are an important step in getting the correct equipment. Titleist is unique and only changes their products every two years where your mentioned manufacturer much more often and one of the reasons I stopped playing their products years ago. I would purchase their products and in six months they would bring out a new item. I lie purchasing Titleist thru their certified fitting shops where I know that I am getting a proper head and shaft. I do not purchase clubs on line or off the shaft and do not see this being a benefit to me. FootJoy had a program similar to this thru it's Ambassador program and it's purpose was to become an Ambassador, which I attained. As an Ambassador a few were selected to test products during the year prior to their release. Currently Titleist sends out balls to many members of TT members and sends out emails asking for volunteers to test various items. What would your recommended purpose of the points be? I feel that TT takes very good care of it's members as it is, if you are active and participate on the site and attend the invitationals. Most people on here already purchase their products from their favorite Titleist account or course where they play or belong, so I do not see how it would improve their increase in sales, but could affect their relationships with these accounts. With respect.

From a business perspective the younger generation of golfers wants to order online, they don't want to have to deal with some one face to face, and that's not going to change as they get older, so eventually Titleist is going to have to adapt. It took me three days to order an embroidered Titleist bag with at least three phone calls and several emails when it could of taken 10 minutes online.

The points allow for consumers to feel that they are getting more for their money, they know that they get added value when they order from the Titleist website because of potential rewards from points. You your self are a Footjoy Ambassador so you found added value in purchasing Footjoy products through their website. The points also allow Titleist to know that when some one earns a reward that the company has made at least some amount of profit off that person due to their points status. While the current way of rewarding TT members is a great marketing tactic, it doesn't guarantee that person will spend more money on Titleist equipment, the current way puts the reward before the purchase while the points would put the reward after the purchase.

Most of us here are TT diehards I know we are going to order from the Titleist account we usually go to. The points could be seen as a way to attract those consumers who are going to go to the big box store and buy off the rack, if those consumers bought directly from the Titleist website Titleist makes more profit for very little added cost. Most big box golf retailers offer a points rewards system to keep their customer base loyal.

The points idea really is another way for Titleist to engage its customer base, while they are already the best in the industry at this there is always room to improve!
  8. I’ve been loyal to Titleist balls and wedges since I started playing when I was 12. Been loyal to the Driver since I was 15. (I know that because my birthday present was a 975D) I wish we could have a some type of card like Kroger’s or BiLo to where no matter what or where you buy your Titleist gear you have them scan your Titleist rewards card.

Brandon, with the Kroger card you earn points to buy their gas and I am not familiar with the BiLo card in that their store are no longer in business in SC as of April, but I am assuming it was/is similar. Bottom line you have one month to use those reward points after earned. Are you suggesting something similar to that. You cannot purchase groceries with those reward cards only gasoline at their approved or owned stations. Harris Teeter does the same. Putting together an operation such as this would be huge undertaking for any organization, which would include additional personnel to run it at additional costs. Having worked in the business sector for many years, I would have to ask my self as a manager, would this be a cost effective venture. I am a Titleist loyalist because I believe in the product, the way it performs and the R&D that supports the product. I joined TT to meet up with fellow loyalists, talk about golf, Titleist and get the opportunity to attend the invitationals when one comes along that I am very interested in attending. And yes, we do get some very nice TT gifts at the events, and I thank TT for the great limited editions. Points are not on my radar, but am open to anything new, if someone presents a plan that sets a realistic objective for both sides. As always, with respect.

    Lethbridge,

I have to agree with Chuck. I purchase my Titleist through my Pro Shop. With Titleist supporting local Pro Shops accounts it helps both Titleist and clubs which I think is great. I have been fortunate to get some balls from Titleist which I really appreciate.

The proposition stated above is not something that has not been discussed before, however, adopting this business model will not change the degree of loyalty of most TT members. At the same time, it may only be detrimental to the already well built good relationships between local Pro Shops and TT members.

Whether this would attract new Titleist equipment and gear clients is to be determined but that would not determine why I am a TT member or a Titleist equipment and gear loyalist.

I'm with you Chuck. I just ordered my new T100's after fitting with a Titleist fitter at our local club yesterday. These will replace my 714 AP2's (probably about time they're well over 8-900 rounds), We are just a small nothing club, and Titleist comes when the pro asks, and has a fitting or demo day. The area rep is always available to our pro and between he, and TT, Titleist has been good to me. Not only with great equipment, but I've been part of the pre-release testings, received "reward" merchandise from Titleist just for being a good customer, and from TT, and local reps that I have dealt with or met, again just for being a good, loyal Titleist customer. Like Chuck says there are rewards for being involved here on TT and being a good customer. They've been good to lots and lots of Titleist customers over and over without fanfare.

I always get money back when I purchase my Titleist balls and equipment. I bank with Bank of America and I get a penny back on every dollar I spend on Titleist equipment plus anything else I purchase. That is the kind of reward I like, money in my pocket and they are two more levels with my Visa card with them, 2% and 3%. When I travel around the world, I opt to use the 3%. For my gas and groceries, I get 2%. This does not affect Titleist or the accounts and everyone is happy. Might consider doing something like that and you can take the cash back on your VISA and buy other Titleist products. Just food for thought. With respect and a plan......
