While golfing part of the fun is running into the local animals. Some localities have some pretty interesting animals. I thought it would be fun for the team titleist folks to share pic's or stories of the most interesting animals they have run into. I saw this bobcat at Encinitas Ranch Golf course in Encinitas CA. It was early am and it was prowling around for breakfast. Fortunately it was not interested in me. Shot with my iPhone.

  2. No picture, but a 100 or so elk on the 4th hole of local course. They need to learn to rake the bunkers rather than step and sleep in them!

It's not uncommon to see a coyote in a few local courses. I wish more of them would show up at my home course because that might help with the Canadian geese population ;-)
  4. Had a Coyote running across the course in Winston-Salem,NC a few weeks ago.

    Cool shot there!

There was a thread on animals on the course not too long ago and it was fascinating to see much like yours. I hope to find the pictures of a bobcat family and the bear up a tree i posted, and I also hope to see some new ones posted here.

But about a couple weeks ago or so, we saw another family group, lynx this time, at another course, from a distance. Prior months to that, during the summer, we climb up the tee on #16. One of our guys said, to be quiet and no sudden movements and tee off as what we believed to be the same family were under the tree shade as one of them quickly jumped up a tree. that time, they were only 35-45 yards. (gulp)

We have a little female fox that greets us as we come into the club house. Can tell that she is hungry with the looks of her fur and thin body. Just sits next to the first tee and looks at everyone as they pass. They have been a mainstay for many years. Cute little critters. Love seeing all the creatures that come for a visit. Eagles, hawks, egrets, alligators, racoon, osprey, and a multitude of shore birds. We do see deer tracks every now and then on the back nine, but have never see one on the course. Love the bobcat.

At my home golf course, RTJ at magnolia Grove, we have a raccoon that approaches you wanting crackers, and a fox squirrel that likes peanuts and chips. Even on the days that I'm walking the course by myself, I can count on my little critter friends to be there to greet me. Sometimes, I'll get a sandwich and eat right beside them with no problem at all.

We see lots of wildlife here in KY. Deer, Turkeys, Fox, Coyotes, Bald Eagles, Raccoons, Skunks even Turtles. Seen a few Gators while playing in the south. Good pic of the Bobcat.

Approach shot into a par 5 at Wentworth Golf Club, thought I had hit into someone on the green. Nope mama black bear and 2 cubs crossing the green. I let them play through.

I have played golf in south africa and have seen a number of crazy things. I have had monkey's steal food out of my cart, had to hit near a giraffe, and had hippos making noise as I was trying to putt.

Thankfully I never had a predator be near me while playing

Was that at the Skukuza golf course? I saw a TikTok about that course and now follow them on IG if that’s the course you’re talking about.
  14. I wish I had a picture to share, but I saw a mountain lion a couple of summers ago - we were on #18 tee and trying to finish before it was too dark. #18 has a ravine between the landing area and the green and the ravine is thick with brush. We saw two mountain lions come up out of the brush and, fortunately, head off away from us.
  15. A black bear on the West Point course. Nice bobcat pic, we now have a momma with a couple of kittens in our woods.

At the Barefoot course in Myrtle Beach, think it was the Fazio course. Early in the morning.

    What a great picture!

My regular course is Tomahawk Hills in Shawnee, KS, and is located in a large park. We have deer and turkeys on the regular, but one day, at dusk, we saw a bobcat or cougar stalking a doe and her fawn. (both types of cats have been known to migrate into Kansas) Our carts scared the cat off but that Mama deer stood her ground.

Haven't seen any coyotes on the course, but they do like to stroll into our neighborhood on the walking paths from the same park mentioned above... In late spring/early summer, we can hear the babies learning to yip and howl in the evenings.

Playing in Playa del Carmen, there were agouti running all over the course. They're a large rodent similar to the capybara found in Brazil. Also, coatimundi, a member of the raccoon family. Cheeky buggers would get into the golf cart to steal our food. Weren't afraid of us at all. Had to prod them away with a club, then quickly get in an take off.

I had a coyote come right onto the green while my buddy and I were putting, didn’t seem threatening, just came up and checked out what we were doing

One morning at the 15th hole on the Asheville Municipal Course, I teed my ball and as I stood up, I saw a large black bear about 20 feet away. We stared at each other for a minute and then he walked away. I was able to take a photo.
  22. Back in the eighties while playing the Ambridge CC, outside of Pittsburgh, I approached the 8th green and saw something sitting to the right of the green. As I got closer it took off, then I realized it was a monkey that escaped from the Pittsburgh Zoo. His name was Alfie. When I told some friends the story, most of them thought I had been drinking. I called the zoo to inform them I saw their escapee. I believe they also thought I was drinking. It turns out Alfie made it to Eastern Ohio, where I believe he was captured.
