“Feels great. Sounds great. Looks great.”
“…I mean, look at this thing. It looks like a Ferrari.”
“Immediately when I pulled the headcover off, I was like, ‘Dang, this looks really good.’ The overall look, the feel is awesome. It’s really good.”
Just two weeks into new TSR Drivers on Tour and it’s safe to say that #TeamTitleist is impressed.
So impressed, that last week at the Travelers Championship, 18 players made the immediate switch to the new models. And this week at the John Deere Classic, 26 players are gaming new TSR models at TPC Deere Run.
Among those who made the switch is Brand Ambassador J.T. Poston, who put a new TSR3 Driver in play last week at TPC River Highlands before going on to post his best finish of the season (T2).
Working on the range Monday morning of the Traveler’s with Titleist Tour Rep Jim Curran, Poston saw a 2 mph jump in ball speed with his TSR3 9.0 compared to his prior generation TSi3.
“That’s definitely further,” Poston said after making contact for the first time. “I like the sound of that a lot. Feels great. Sounds great. Looks great.”
And at the start of this week’s John Deere Classic, J.T. made PGA Tour history after posting a first round 62 – the only player to fire first rounds of 62 or better in consecutive PGA Tour events (since tracking began in 1983).
Also making the immediate switch to a new TSR3 Driver was Brand Ambassador Davis Riley, who, after making his first start at TPC River Highlands with the new model, went on to lead the field in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee while also recording his best driving performance of the season.
Hear what Davis had to say during his initial testing of the new models:
The success doesn’t stop with Poston and Riley, as Brand Ambassador Chesson Hadley also saw his best finish of the season (T5) at last week’s Travelers Championship after adding a new TSR3 driver to the bag.
“When I set it down, it just looks like the same driver I’ve been hitting, but I’m getting better performance. You couldn’t ask for a better driver. I love it. I picked up a little bit of ball speed. And I mean, look at this thing. It looks like a Ferrari. That’s just so clean. You’ve got to like the way it looks and feels. And Titleist definitely has mastered both of those things. So I’m pretty juiced about it.”
