On Sunday at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, Titleist Brand Ambassador Joohyung “Tom” Kim accomplished a rarely-achieved feat: He earned his PGA TOUR card as a non-member, locking up enough FedExCup points to earn full playing privileges for the 2022-23 season.
Matching the tournament record with a clutch final round of 9-under 63, the lowest round of the day at Detroit Golf Club, Tom finished seventh to earn his second Top 10 in his last four PGA TOUR starts and move to No. 34 in the Official World Golf Ranking. In eight events this season on TOUR, he’s made seven cuts, including strong finishes at the Genesis Scottish Open (3rd), Byron Nelson (T17) and U.S. Open (23).
Though this summer has been the first extended stretch of professional golf played in the U.S. for the 20-year-old, Tom has played professionally since 2018 and has two wins on the Korean Tour since the start of 2021.
We recently caught up with Tom at the Open Championship to take us through his bag – including his Pro V1x golf ball, NEW TSR3 driver and fairway, and three NEW Vokey SM9 wedges stamped “RADAR” – a stamping you’ve probably seen on the SM9’s of another Team Titleist member and major champion (Spoiler alert: It’s Justin Thomas).
