For me, if the ball is predictable and spins the way I want around the greens I can get used to the way it feels. So, spin for me. I play the Pro V1X and while I think it’s a little firmer than the Pro V1, the surlyn cover is amazing and feels better than other premium balls I’ve tested.
  2. To answer the question around the green, I believe spin is more important because of having more control of the ball. More control develops more feel.

    Hey Team Titleist,

It's no secret that both feel and spin are important in a golf ball, especially when you're around the green.

So who better to ask than the Team Titleist community for what they look for in their golf ball when they need an up and down to keep their round going.

Let us know your reasoning below and comment with what golf ball model you're currently playing!

Absolutely the most important aspect of a ball around the green is spin. How does feel give you control? Hitting a ball that doesn’t feel good only makes the player unhappy if it reacts poorly. Take it to the bank!

It's all about feel.....plain and simple. End of story.

I feel like you need both. Different situations, different shots, different needs
  7. The feel is what allows a player to freely strike the ball around the green confidently, spin is controlled by the feel.
  8. I just need the ball to stop quickly, close i am to the green the quicker it needs to stop.

The X spins fine, for me it's feel all the time.

    Absolutely Feel and Response.
I want my Pro V1 to feel good and to respond to my intended shot.

Feel. I can't hear or feel a hard "click" off the face. It needs to be soft & be able to produce enough spin to stop where I need it to.

I loved the Professional years ago!

Feel....and predictability. Being able to know what the ball is going to do is key to a solid short game.

Feel is usually how you gauge the spin. It makes a difference in different situations.

I think both are important. But if I had to pick one it would be .... feel.

For me, I’d say feel. I can properly control the spin with the proper club choice and technique.
  17. For me feel is by far the most important. Spin and consistency follow. If the ball feels good, then I can work out how to play the shot that gives the best chance of getting close to the hole.
I may be outside the norm, but I choose by ball to best suit my approach play (cause it's a cheaper band aid to old irons that could do with a refresh) low spin and firm feel are a big part of this. I play the "-ProV1x" for this reason.

This is almost a trick question. They just about go hand in hand. Softer the ball in terms of feel, the more spin it is likely to have in theory.

Similar to a tennis ball and racket. Looser (softer) the strings, the more "flex" the strings have to hold the ball on the face longer for more spin capability.

If I had to pick just one, I am going with feel. If the ball feels what I am looking for, I can then learn how the ball spins and what type of strikes and flight do what for spin.
