Hey Team Titleist,
History has been made this week at the Tour Championship.
Twenty-nine of the PGA Tour’s best players teed off at East Lake Golf Club Thursday afternoon in competition for the FedEx Cup, with more of them relying on Titleist from tee to green than any other brand.
For the first time, Titleist is the overwhelming #1 golf ball and most played driver, fairway, hybrid, utility iron, iron, wedge and putter at the Tour’s season finale, with a total of 24 players (83% of the field) gaming at least one piece of Titleist equipment.
It marks the fourth time this season – and 27th time since the start of the 2019 calendar year – that Titleist has topped every major equipment count at a PGA Tour event. Titleist is the only brand to have ever accomplished this feat.
Let’s dive into the numbers in Atlanta:
The #1 ball in golf is the #1 ball at the Tour Championship, with 22 (76% of the field) players teeing up a Titleist Pro V1, Pro V1x or Pro V1 Left Dot golf ball, more than seven times the nearest competitor at three. Among them, every one of this season’s major champions is putting their confidence in a Titleist golf ball. schPGA Champion Justin Thomas, U.S. Open Champion Matt Fitzpatrick and Champion Golfer of the Year Cameron Smith all put their faith in Pro V1x.
The most played driver on the PGA Tour for four seasons running, Titleist is the top choice of players with 13 drivers in play (45%), more than double the nearest competitor (6). There are five NEW TSR drivers being gamed this week, tied for first among driver models in just nine weeks since making their debut at the Travelers Championship. In their first nine weeks on Tour, TSR drivers have four wins, including Cam Smith’s first major victory at St. Andrews.
There are more Titleist fairway metals (17/38%), hybrids (6/55%) and utility irons (5/56%) in players’ bags this week at East Lake Golf Club than any other brand.
Twelve players (41%) are using Titleist irons. The longstanding No. 1 iron on the PGA Tour is doubling the nearest competitor (6) this week in Atlanta.
The undisputed most played wedge on the PGA Tour, Vokey Design wedges, make up 63% of all gap, sand and lob wedges in play with 52 wedges, more than all other brands combined (31). Players gaming at least one Vokey wedge have won the last 12 events on Tour.
On the greens, 11 players (38%) are trusting a Scotty Cameron putter, compared to six for the nearest competitor. 21 (46%) of PGA Tour events during the 2021-22 season have been won with a Scotty Cameron putter.
Complete trust of Titleist from tee to green continues to be a theme at every level of competitive golf:
Titleist was the #1 golf ball and most played equipment brand across every major category at many of 2022's biggest amateur championships, including the U.S. Amateur, The Amateur Championship (R&A), Australian Amateur, Lytham Trophy, European Amateur, U.S. Junior Amateur and the six NCAA Men’s Regional Championships.
Titleist also swept the combined counts across this summer’s Elite Amateur Series, comprising seven of the amateur game’s most prestigious titles: Sunnehanna Amateur, Northeast Amateur, North & South Amateur, Tran-Miss Amateur, Southern Amateur, Pacific Coast Amateur and Western Amateur.
