To Upgrade or Not...

As we all know, the year on year model exchange becomes overwhelming for many. With the likes of cally, TM, and now the miz's, Pings, etc of the world, the golf equipment world has become flat out overwhelming. But I suggest, newer isn't always better... or is It?

I bought the T-100s when they came out with the second iteration. I was sold the minute I hit them and experienced their feel. They certainly surpassed what I had been playing (miz and cally irons previously) by all measurable ways, at least for me. I was sold on them so much so I swore off buying another iron until I wore them out!! But, sometimes, you realize... Things said in haste are frankly just silly and not always hard and fast.

Fast forward to this week. I went to the 2nd swing store just to play around. Of course, that often ends up in me coming home with something I hadn't planned. In this case, the same ole same held true.

I tried out a essentially brand new set of T150's and was instantly in love. While I was steadfast in my stance that I wasn't going to upgrade, that was all for not. I hit these things and was IMMEDIATELY sold. These harken back to the AP2 irons in every sense, but I think far more playable. So, out the window went my hard stance, and in the bag the new clubs clattered.

Like every "purchase" I make at said establishment goes, I drove all the way home (1.5 hours from me) and had those mental second guessing type moments. Well, in the north east (PA) we got snow today. But the tried and true Members group showed up at the course and went off at 7 in the freezing cold 3.5 hours before the snow was suppose to hit us. We got all 18 in. Fresh in the bag and essentially hit every iron exactly how I wanted too. Fades, Draws, Low, High..... You name it, it was happening. These irons were absolutely confidence inspiring and capable of doing everything I wanted and then some. AND, they were LONG still even in the cold.

So, I suppose the question, or mini little saga I put above, comes down to... We often try to talk ourselves out of upgrading. But has ANYONE else found that the new series of T irons to be a VAST leap forward rather than a small nudge forward? I think they are, frankly. Monumental, I mean. I could do all of the things with the last model, but these just seemed like dummy sticks to me that made it all very easy.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

P.s. In the modern age, I have to say what draws me too and keeps me with Team Titleist is the fact that they don't just roll new crap out every year and that they put HIGH quality stuff out each time. I can't say that I've seen that in the other OEM's. Truly, I don't think I could ever imagine myself playing a different brand in many of the clubs in the bag.

Thanks for reading my ramblings, if the mods put this thread up. Hope to hear from you!

Gen 3 has been the most significant upgrade. Have taken every new series sometimes for a questionable benefit - hoping that the next set will solve all my problems.
I went to the Gen 3 launch just to see if the forged face on the T350 was all that different. Indeed. The sound was really distinctly improved.
Ended up with a blended set with T200’s as the primary weapon. I didn’t gain distance but with a better descent angle, I hit and hold greens. Which resulted in new metal woods for gapping. Will wait to see what happens in 2025, but if Titleist closed tomorrow, I’d be happy for a long time with what I have.

I was recently fitted for the T-200 with Project X LZ 5.5. Can not wait to get them in the bag.

Went from the first generation of the T300s to the new T350s. They are great when I hit them solid. Cannot wait until I complete my PT and this El Nino weather we are having and I can hopefully find the wonderful game that seems to have found it's way to S America or somewhere else in the beautiful and wonderful world. Can honestly say I hit at least one beautiful shot every other hole, worthy of the expense. Am crazy off the tee, but you cannot score of the tee. Should be easy to hit from the middle of the fairways. ha...ha...ha... hakuna matata..... =)
  5. I was fitted into second gen T300 in 2021 and my iron game has vastly improved since then. So I'm really interested in going for a fitting to feel the new t series.
  6. I’m not sure one can go wrong with any of the new Titleist equipment. Get fit for the proper shaft with the head you like and golf is a fun game!

I got fitted when I got my Concept CP-03 irons and it made a huge difference. I always had a higher opinion of my swing speed and had to accept the ‘science”…

Just got my T150’s when I wasn’t planning to upgrade. Love the site lines! Headed to the Titleist ball plant in Mass for a tour on 2/5. Can’t wait for the season in the NE
  9. Places an order this week for T150 and sold my Miz 223 set. No regrets. Played titleist for a majority of my golfing career and when I got a chance to hit these it was like getting a letter from home. My mind was made up.
