I'm going to Newport with my brothers the end of February and wanted to know some good courses to play. We'll be playing Wednesday afternoon, all day Thursday and Friday morning... so if there are even some local country club members that need some playing partners:)

Can't wait to get my new fairway metals next week and try em out down in beautiful California, the snow here in Utah is killing me!!!!

    Thanks!!

If you want to go really high end ($200+) then Pelican Hill is the place to play.  The South is rated better than the North.  Views are nice, but only a few holes on the water.

A step below than is probably Strawberry Farms and Oak Creek, both are in Irvine and about 10 minutes from Newport Beach.  Depending on when you play, I might be able to help you out at Strawberry because I do the players club, which could save you about $15-$25 per round.  Oak Creek is about $150, Strawberry will run between $90 - $120 without a discount.

Other daily fee options are Tustin Ranch and Arroyo Trabuco.

Muni courses to consider would be Mile Square or Costa Mesa.  Rancho San Joaquin in Irvine can be dicey.

San Diego is not far, and Torrey Pines is on the north end of SD.  Both North and South have great vistas.  The South does have the Rees Jones upgrade, so the bunkers are deeper and you have the option to play hole 13 from around 500 yards to the 601 from the USGA Open tee.  But it is about twice the price for the greens fee.

Just wanted to thank you guys for getting back to me, these are some great ideas. I appreciate your time:)

I'm thinking if we can get on Torrey Pines that would be pretty epic, any info on how hard it is to get on?

    Thanks again

Try Arroyo Trabuco and Tustin Ranch. Torrey is very difficult to get on for non-residents
