    Hello TT,

my wife and I are headed to Hawaii in late February and my clubs are coming with me. Does anyone here have good suggestions on where to play? I'm not sure what islands we're going to , but the course needs to be in awesome shape and have some great scenery. Any suggestions would be much appreciated

If you're headed to Maui, you will want to check out the Plantation course at Kapalua. While the Bay course is nice too, the Plantation course is awesome. Make sure you bring a camera. Ka'anapali and Wailea have some very nice courses too. The only other island I have been to is Oahu. Two courses you might want to check out there are Luana Hills and Ko'olau, both courses are very scenic. Have a great trip and hit 'em straight.

If you are going to Kauai, I'd try to play Poipu Bay and/or Princeville. I played Poipu Bay and the grounds were immaculate and some incredible views on the back nine. Princeville is ranked in top 25 in the US. If you are on Maui, definitely play Kapalua Plantation course, the vourse is beautiful and the scenery is even more amazing.

You can get some ideas once you get your islands decided.

Each island here has a section on golf.  http://www.gohawaii.com/

When my wife and I went, played Plantation and since I was on the southern coast of Maui, also played Wailea's three championship golf courses: Old Blue, Emerald and Gold.

    Thanks for the insight guys,

I'll be on Maui and Kauai.  The Plantation is on the list.  I'm sure it comes with a cart, but is the course walkable?  I would much rather walk than ride.  I was thinking of the Prince for Maui.  How did the Prince stack up to other courses you played in Hawaii, is it walkable?

More importantly, what did you wife do while you played golf?

Too many hills?  I've walked some beastly courses before...

It's hilly, long distances between tees and if it's wet, you will bust your rear slipping!

Golf in Hawaii is flat out spectacular.  In addition to Kapaula I played the Prince course on Kauai.  it's a challenging layout just littered with unbelievable scenery.  It didn't feel real.  Here's some pictures

I had the first time of the day.  The sunrise here is unreal

Huge mountains on one side and ocean on the other...  The course was crazy cool

This hole had a natural waterfall behind the green

The greens here are crazy.  I was aiming at the flag (the hole is in line with the second house from the right) and it still wasn't enough break

There's a wee bit of elevation change out here too.

A big thanks to Mike and TT family for the sweet bag, and thanks to the TT members for recommending this course.  (Tim, you're right, this isn't very walkable)  It's definitely worth the trip

    Welcome back, Josh!

Great pics. Looks like you had a great time.

Let's hope Spring is just around the corner for us... I'm ready to trade the snow for some fairways and greens.

    Cheers,

    Mike

It'll be good to be back once this snow melts.  Supposed to be 50* on Sunday, hopefully the defrost gets left on...
