Traveling with Clubs

    I have a Titleist Club Glove travel cover and it is AWESOME. I've traveled a half dozen times including for a bachelor party where I was able to pack all my clothes in around the clubs. It's perfect when flying Southwest because I can check that bag at no extra cost.

    Here's my predicament: I'm flying home for a tournament that my team won last year and the cheapest flights are looking like Delta. I do not want to pay to check the bags!

    Has anyone mailed their clubs? What's the best quality service, cheapest, guaranteed delivery, etc?

    Never mailed or shipped my clubs, but I've heard about this new company/service called Ship Sticks (www.shipsticks.com). You might want to check them out. Personally, I prefer to have my sticks on the same plane with me.

    Don't know what benefits there are to shipping the sticks. I usually go to a course right after I land. I think you have to plan ahead when shipping them also, not sure how far in advance either.

    Get a quote from ShipSticks. I have a feeling that it may be less expensive to pay the $50 to Delta to check them. The least expensive shipsticks rates take a few days for your clubs to get where they are going. I have seen rates as high as $235 for 2 day delivery!

    i mailed my clubs from east coast to chicago using fedex.. it was no problem.. somewhere around 50$ if you create an account with them i got 10% off for that shipment as well(not sure if that offer is still running though). clubs arrived on time and no problems. they insure clubs as well (think its up to 1000$) only thing is you might pay for the shipping box if you dont have a hard case.. i bought it cause i wanted a larger security blanket. Im sure you will find some horror stories out there from shipping but it will be similar to that of flying.. I only used it once, other than that, when i travel its similar to you southwest + club glove bag and no issues.. Theres risk in every form of transport in the end its what will be more economical/convenient for you.. good luck

    The Delta fee is for one standard bag for a set of clubs, assuming it is the only checked luggage. That's $25 one way. You can still carry on one small roller board/suitcase. The shipping systems need to be shipped several days in advance and are generally more than $25 one way. Nice for a vacation so you don't have to rent a minivan to carry them. If I check them 1 hour in advance, I've never had a problem on Delta.

    I've used Ship Sticks several times without any issues, but only on the back end of the trip. With an upcoming trip to MN, I'm planning on sending the clubs out in advance. It's definitely worth the extra few dollars to not have to deal with the clubs in the airport. Plus, Ship Sticks uses UPS and they take better care of the clubs than the airlines
