Can't go wrong with either one. Savannah is only a quick drive from HH and is a nice way to see some sights, eat and just relax. Looks like you are right on target with your course selections!

I live in Mount Pleasant across the river from Charleston and use to work the Savannah area, before retiring. "Go see Savannah" and try to get into Paul Dean's Restaurant (The Lady and Sons) while you are there. If not grab a bite down on the river. Plenty of pubs and good places to eat down there. Might call The Lady and Sons and make reservations, walking up normally not easy to get in but awesome southern cooking. Great fried cornbread. Do a number of golf events in the Head Head area, mostly private clubs. You should have a great time at those courses. Also, give Reilly's Grill and Bar at the entrance to Sea Pines a try. Typical Boston type bar. Takes up the whole corner and Mr Tom Reilly does an excellent job. Where we hangout at night when we are there doing the RBC Heritage Pro/Ams in April. The food is awesome. Chuck, We have stayed in Sea Pines many times and hit all the spots you mention. Those are our go to places including Paula Dean's in Savannah. Especially enjoy the drive to Savannah on the back roads. Tybee Island is also not a bad stop form some local flavor!

Played Sea Pines Country Club with a buddy as his guest in their Member/Guest last fall. We finished second in our flight. Awesome course and we had a blast. Beautiful club.

3 great tracks inside Palmetto Dunes as well. You will love Harbourtown, keep the driver in the bag, truly a shot maker's delight.

Harbor Town and Atlantic Dunes are great. I was there in July. Spent an evening on River Street in Savannah and had a great time!

Play golf! Also, check out the south beach in Sea Pines for ice cream!

Climb the Lighthouse...it's only 114 steps and there is cool golf course and tourney memorabilia inside. The view from the top is pretty neat!

The time to visit Savannah and really experience it is on St Patrick's day. I use to be a District Manager for a day care operation out of Alabama (my office was in Charleston). I managed twelve centers in Georgia and South Carolina and I made it a point to be in Savannah on St Patrick's day. Even got to ride on a float one year for MDA. We were big supporters of MDA and I was selected by MDA to play in their Celebrity Golf Tournament at Hilton Head over labor day. What an experience. A lot happens in that area.

Just back from a 2 week stay in HHI. Had a condo in the Shipyard area, which included a discount at the Shipyard Golf Club (3 nine hole courses). I bought a 10 day play card for $395, which was quite reasonable. The course was in good shape, not crowded and the staff was helpful and friendly. Many good restaurants there, Michael Anthony's and Nunzio for dinner and The Crazy Crab for lunch were our favorites..

We've been going to HHI the last dozen years or so to escape our Green Bay winter that continues into March.

I'd agree with many of the comments posted previously; that is, Sea Pines Plantation and specifically, their golf "complex" is really very quite strong. I like the Atlantic Dunes course and Heron Point as great values especially beginning with 1:00 PM tee times.

Couple restaurants that we visit every year = Lucky Rooster, the exteior in a mall is deceiving, top notch restaurant and bar. Secondly, Pomodori, small Italian restaurant that is always a favorite.

Reilly's Grill and Bar. Great place to hang out. Great food and service and good selection of beers. Our hang out when working events on HHI.

All the courses on Hilton Head are fun. Played Harbor Town last month. As others noted, you may want to rest the driver unless you're pretty accurate with it. The 3's are some of Dye's best designs. Savanah is a short hop south and a good place to spend evenings or a day if you like southern architecture and good food.
