    The wife and I are taking a vacation to the beach in September. I have 2 maybe 3 rounds that I can squeeze in. Any recommendations? Willing to drive up to 2 or 3 hours if its the right course.

    Caledonia is a must, True Blue is pretty good too. Just to name two.

    yes, i have, actually shot my best round ever there. Nice course also.

    The big question: What are you willing to pay? There are soooo many choices and if you're talking within 3 hours that brings in many more.

    If you want to play the two best they have, The Dunes Club, and Caledonia. World Tour is always in great condition but if you want to play it for the holes that are supposed to be like Augusta, St. Andrews, Sawgrass, etc. you'll be disappointed. They don't look and play a lot like the real ones. That doesn't take away from the course. If you play it for what it is, you'd enjoy it. Otherwise, Heritage, The River Club, TPC, Kings North at Myrtle Beach National. All good courses, as are the Legends too. The Dunes is tough to get on, they only deal with certain hotels or booking agents but worth it. Caledonia is a must but make sure you book to start on 1 not 10. Otherwise it's a little anti-climatic. 10 is a very short 110 yd par 3 surrounded by sand. 18 is a dogleg right, second shot over water back to the clubhouse with an occasional heckler on the balcony if you hit it in the water.

    I live in Mt Pleasant, two hours from MB and work up there doing golf events. The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island is located down this way, which is a world ranked course and runs around $383 not including caddie fee or tip. Walking course only before noon. Home of the 1991 Ryder Cup, 2011 Senior PGA Championship, the 2012 PGA Championship and 2021 PGA Championship.

    September is prime season for golf in Myrtle Beach and is the number one golf destination so finding a course is normally not an issue. We have had a bit of rain lately so the fairways and greens should be in good shape, unless we have a extremely hot summer. There are some great clubs in Pawleys Island which is on the southside of Myrtle Beach. Not as crowded down there. TPC, True Blue, Caledonia.     If you happen to come down this way, bon appetit.....great restaurants in Charleston and Mt Pleasant (Page's Okra Grill is a must, best time is around 115pm).....it is a win win if decide to head even further south......cannot disagree with Pinehurst, been there and play both courses....awesome experience.....tough to beat the Carolinas when it comes to great golf......nothing could be finer than to be in the caroliner in the mornings...... =)

    Depending on where you stay in Myrtle Beach, the trip to Pinehurst is about 3 hours. Play #2 or #4!

    TPC for sure! Tidewater is a great track too. Kings North is a fun lay out and all the sand is pretty cool (club house is due for an update). If you are up for a drive Chuck Z is right The Ocean course on Kiawah is awesome and your wife will like lunch and drinks on the deck (fits your 2-3 hour drive). Hilton Head has some fantastic courses, but it’s about 4 hours from Myrtle. It’s hard to go wrong! Golf capital of the world.

    So if you are if you are going to spend some time in Myrtle Beach and are trying to "squeeze in 2 or 3 rounds" I really don't think you need to drive 2 or 3 hours to find great golf. Enjoy your time there. Golf courses there are all enjoyable. Save the time driving a long distance and "squeeze in" a 4th round!

    Also try Legends golf and Resort. Great courses and clubhouse atmosphere.

    Any of the Barefoot Resorts courses would be well worth "squeezing in."

    Brady I have trekking to the lowcountry for the last 15 years. I have played almost every course on the Strand. I rank my top 4 this way. 1. Dunes Club
    2. Tidewater
    3. Dye Club at Barefott
    4. Caledonia

    With that said. I really have enjoyed every course in the Myrtle Beach Area. For me, an iowa boy, I could take any track down there being it home and it would be a top 5 or 3 in my neck of the woods.

    Pine Lakes ("The Granddaddy") is a throwback to the start of Myrtle Beach golf. Excellent course with tradition.

    Love our trips to MB. I have to agree that Caledonia, Pine Lakes And Grand Dunes are three of my go to courses on the trip.

    I just played World Tour, it’s a lot of fun and in good condition. Caledonia is a must. I have a house at TPC and we play there a lot, it’s always in excellent shape and is a good layout. Check out Man O War and The Wizard, I like those layouts, they are fun courses.

    Since our governor opened up the state the reports or the virus are spiking. Greenville and Columbia have made it mandatory that anyone in public must wear a mask. Charleston and Mt Pleasant are discussing this today. Waiting to see when Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head will comply also. Understand there could be up to a $50 fine for failure to comply. Sullivan's Island will not allow chairs or coolers on the beach controlling people gathering. They go to the Isle of Palms. People just do not get it and I just wish our governor would get more involved. Tourism drives our economy and I am sure that is why he will not make a stand. With respect.

    There are a ton of great tracks down there, lived there for a few years and absolutely loved legends resort, arrowhead country club was a super nice course and always in great condition right on the waterway, TPC Myrtle is great of course, Man O War and World Tour are also fun! Enjoy your time man! Lot of great places to eat also! Feel free to contact for any must go places!

    I have decided to drive 4 hours from Myrtle and play Harbour Town. Very excited for this. Just booked it today. September 3rd at 121 pm. If any local TT members want to join up it would be a blast. Looking forward to getting owned by the course.

    Don't forget to stop by Reilley's Grill and Bar and have a bite outside the gate. Great food and service. Would love to join you, if not the time of the year and the tee time. Our temperatures are in the high eighties and low nineties and with the humidity in the 70's, the heat index will be well over 100 and is just too much to play that time of the day. Most locals are inside where it is cool. Relief does not arrive here until about October. Have fun enjoy that beautiful course and the beauty of the sound and please drink plenty of water and stay close to the shade trees as much as possible. With respect, but it is a lovely place to live, along the coast of SC. I live about an hour an a half from there and work golf events down there in the spring and fall.

    Great decision! Have fun and if you get the chance take the time to go up the iconic lighthouse. Nice views and some cool info and memorabilia...
