Sawgrass is nice, but not $800 a person nice IMO. Could get 2 rounds plus lodging at Streamsong for the same price. Food and spa are outstanding at Streamsong resort as well.

Is TPC on your bucket list then go for it
But.. If you want to see the plant and shop afterwards.....


After going the FJ invitational and seeing the FJ facility, the bookmark will be seeing the ball plant!

The seafood is different. Cold water lobsters and warm water lobsters are different, although not as much as mussels/clams/cod and grouper. Each area has different prime times of the year to visit. Can you convince your wife to go antique shopping or a tour of the whaling museum in New Bedford while you do a fitting at Manchester Lane? In Boston, there is the Union Oyster House and options in the Faneuil Hall mall. Others in the Beantown region can suggest courses to play. New Bedford has food options with a Portuguese influence.

Yes I would be able to convince my wife to go shopping while I did a fitting. She would have no problem doing that.

The Ball Plant has suspended tours at this time. Not sure how long until they start up and you need to use the on-line reservation form to get in. Just keep that in mind as you make your plans.

Seafood always fresh at the number one tourist destination in Charleston, SC. And there is always great Golf at Kiawah Island. The Ocean Course, Home of the PGA Championships in May 2021. Past events: Ryder Cup, PGA Championship, PGA Champion, Warburg Cup, Word Cup. Five great courses. Shem Creek in Mt Pleasant, number one photographed place in SC due to the shrimp boats which are a dying breed. Also great eateries. Just additional seafood for thought. With respect.....

I am going to take a wild guess and say your wife would be much happier visiting sunny Florida and it's numerous great restaurants. I am also guessing your wife would find the ball manufacturing plant interesting but in the long run would be much more thrilled visiting sunny Florida. But this is just a guess.....Happy Wife....Happy Life!

While I haven't done the ball tour, I can say that Sawgrass was worth it. My wife and I went down there for a long weekend for my 40th a few years back. We ate and shopped primarily in St. Augustine.

I wish I could tell you all about the unique places to eat and see while in Boston, I just don't remember. My wife was pretty much my tour guide and I just followed her. She went to BC & BU and taught in Boston for a few years. She knows the city well.

I’ve been to both. Sawgrass is fun with good packages you can set up if the wife likes golfing with you. Very pricey now a days though. BP3 is in my favorite section of America, south shore of MA. Tons of great cost effective courses in Plymouth like Waverly Oaks, Crosswinds, Atlantic, ect. Good lobster, near Boston and more bang for your buck. The BP3 tour is a great time, once in a lifetime experience worth seeing first hand. Good luck choosing!

For me any question that involves choosing between something involving playing golf and something involving NOT playing golf is a no-brainer. I always opt for playing golf.

Interesting. My wife very seldom complains about how much I play golf and we have been married happily for 43 years. She really encourages me to play. I am retired and normally play three days a week, about as much as this body can take. SC is a great state to play in and has some wonderful courses. I have been bless to have the opportunity to have played some of the top courses in the world in my travels. When we travel to visit friends and home my clubs go with me. But there are some exceptions. In some of our planned travels, time does not allow for golf and I can accept that. We travel around the world visiting some very exciting places, by plane and by ship. The world is a great place to see and sometimes I enjoy seeing all those wonderful places with my wife. I can always go on a golf trip with TT or with my buddies with no complaints from wife with only comment; "please go and don't worry about me". Just a private joke between us. We have signed up to go to Europe in June and the clubs will rest for two weeks. The Alps, Dutch art, German beer, and French wine. Hopefully the pandemic does not shut us out again this year. Brandon: Jacksonville is a great place to visit. Been there a number times but only played golf at the TPC while at a TT event. Enjoy. Would suggest visiting the Golf World Hall of Fame if you have not visited it. Worth the tour. They also have a couple of courses there.

My wife is the same, she doesn't say anything to me when I say I am going golfing. And we have been together for over 20 years and will be married for 16 years this March.

As a former St. Augustine resident, I heartily suggest spending as much non-golf time there as possible. Such a great vibe with plenty of fun little shops and watering holes, all within easy walking distance. Some touristy things but it's no DisneyWorld, that's for sure.

TPC Sawgrass definitely squeezes every cent out of guests, but every golfer needs to stand on that 17th tee and feel the pressure. The only golf vacation where you're worrying about one hole from the moment you board the plane!

Well after much debating on where we are going to go, we decided to go a completely different route.

We decided to go to New Braunfels, TX and visit the brother, sister, and new nephew.

I will definitely play TPC San Antonio Oaks Course while there, I played their Canyons Course a couple years ago when we were there for their wedding.

Any other suggestions for that area? We discussed going in to Houston/Galvenston to eat fresh seafood.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Play La Cantera. Drive to Fredericksburg and check out the Texas/German heritage.

I play Palmer more often but the Resort is the course that hosted the PGA before they moved up the road to the TPC Canyons. Palmer has great views but more blind shots. Resort a bit more traditional. You cant go wrong with either one.

Haven't played TPC Sawgrass and have yet to visit the ball plant, but if someone gave me the option today I would hands down visit the ball plant and do some shopping at the gift shop! Easy choice for me.
