Who has had a purple patch this season and seen their handicap reduce? Tell us how much you have reduced your handicap and what was the catalyst. Conversely, if you have seen your handicap the other way, what have you done differently?

Had a amazing season & dropped 4 shots in last 6 weeks to get down to 6, changed every aspect of my game from ball (V1 to V1x) upwards! Changed clubs to Titleist in summer & tweaked my swing, havent looked back, cat 1 by end of the year is goal now.

    Hi

I have managed to get my handicap from 19.6 to 12.1 since November 2010. I was made redundant is September 2010 so had the opportunity to play and practice everyday.  It is amazing what practice does. I use the new Titleist 910, 9.5 driver, 15 degree D 3 wood, and 21 degree rescue. Great clubs.

    Best wishes

    Steve

Thanks for sharing your experiences Robin and Steve - seems like practice is the key! Conratulations both on impressive handicap improvements!

My handicap has gone down a couple from about 6 to 4 (low index this summer was 3.8). Much of the credit I think belongs to my newly fit 910 woods that hit it longer and straighter off the tee. Hitting a lot of wedges into par 4s since many of the guys I play against don't play the black tees. Still, I haven't achieved the success I'd hoped for this summer which would be to get down nearer to 0. I haven't had as much time to practice as I'd hoped. My season revolves around my son's season. He finishes is planned golf downtime/soccer season in 3 weeks and we start practicing hard for next year over Thanksgiving Vacation so next summer may be the year. --Jerry

Golf revolves around my son............. That rings a bell, I'm the same my regular sunday morning winter comp has gone due to my 8 year old sons football changing from saturday to sunday. Does anyone get the "you playing golf again" from the wife? If I take my son I'm offered a lift to the club...... The promise of a large coke and some crisps afterwwards normally encourages him to want to go golfing
