I had a fitting at St Ives on Monday & went down my club yesterday to get my new bats ordered. The Pro said that's fine, I'll get you a price, to which I replied "I don't really care, I'm having them"

My mate was not overly impressed with my negotiating skills !

Fitting was a great experience for a Golf nut, well looked after by the Titleist boys, very relaxed atmosphere and these blokes have a serious amount of knowledge about their equipment. Also had the pleasure of having Robert Dinwiddie in the bay next to me - Seems like a good lad.

Can't wait for my new clubs now !

    Hi Lyndon,

Glad you had such a positive experience and thank you for your feedback! We can't comment on the negotiation skills of course!

Perhaps you could tell us all what you were fitted into and why? I saw you trying out some metals too - are they next on the list?

Rob is a great lad - we wish him well in SA over the next few weeks! Have you checked out the video of what he was up to or did you overhear it all?

    Thanks

    N

No, haven't seen Rob's video yet - Where can I find it please ?

My current clubs are original AP1s, so I was really looking at the 712 version of them but also with AP2 in mind. Thommo put lie & face stickers on my old 6 iron and had me hit it off the lie board. This showed us that my old clubs were a little flat for me and that I was consistantly hitting it slightly out of the toe. We tried the AP1 in 2* upright and like magic the lie was perfect and the strike had moved to the middle.

My old shafts are high launch and I was hitting it a little too high, but my swing speed is still spot on regular so we went for the R300 which brought my flight down nicely.

I tried the AP2s and absolutely loved the look of them but decided that I'd rather see a bit more blade as an 11hcp !

    So, end result was AP1, 5-Gap, 2up, R300 shafts

As for the metals, not really in the market at the mo but interesting to try. Amazing how much difference a shaft makes, I tried the Driver and was lashing it all over the place and know know what people mean when they say they can't feel the clubhead. Thommo whipped that shaft out, put another in and I starting hitting it well, but no significant gains over my current Driver.

The Hybrid is a real piece of work - I couldn't hit it anything but sweet !

    Cheers.
