I've seen a lot of great deals of AP2 710's recently and have been very tempted to buy a set. My concern is that I'd like my next set to be custom fitted so I wondered roughly how much it would cost if I went ahead and bought some off-the-shelf clubs and then got the lie adjusted later if required once I've been custom fitted? I'm standard height and expect the standard DG S300 shafts to be fine having played with a friend's clubs previously so I'm reasonably confident it would only be the lie that might need adjusted. My current clubs are a set of standard DCI 990s that I got second hand about 10 years ago when I was off 5 (now off 8 after starting back a year ago after three years with no golf) so I'm sure even standard AP2s would be an improvement as technology has obviously moved on.

    Hi Paul,

Our recommendation would be to get fitted first to make sure that the spec of the stock clubs is still right for you. However, it may be that your pro or another club fitter would be prepared to review your set up requirements after you have tried them.

It could be a false economy in the long run - the savings you make on buying a standard stock set could be negated if you actually need a different shaft, different grips, etc. and have to subsequently change them.

    Hope that this helps.
