I have recently purchased 2 sleeves of pro v1's and pro v1 x's to use in the oncoming summer. I would like to know the difference between the two balls. I prefer the pro v1 x's but I would just like to know why I prefer them to the pro v1's? also my friend recently joined team titleist and recieved a sleeve of your new titleist velocity's. I heard that they were excellent and wondered how i could get a sleeve to try out.

Pro v1's spin a bit more than the x.
  3. I thought the pro v1x's are for people with a faster swing.

Faster swing = higher clubhead speed = increased spin rate.

If you have too much spin, try the pro v1x.

If the pro v1x feels too hard, try the pro v1.

Incidentally in the 1980's, distance was achieved by the 100 compression golf ball but today’s ball technology means the current pro v's have equivalent low to mid 80's compressions which improve feel, while maintaining distance

Faster swing speed does, as you rightly point out, equate to higher clubhead speed and higher ball speed. Spin however is influenced by a number of factors - ball cover composition, the relationship between the ball cover and core, the angle of attack of your swing, the loft of the club, groove composition and swing speed.

Ball fitting for swing speeds is a myth. A golf ball must perform for all golfers of all swing speeds on all shots, otherwise it won't perform for any golfer. A tour player's driver swing speed is higher than most amateurs' - yet his speed on long or mid irons may be similar to your driver swing speed. A titleist ball will perform as well on your drives as it does on the tour player's iron shots. The golf ball just reacts to the force at impact and Titleist golf balls perform for all swin speeds on all shots.

Looking at the differences between Pro V1 and Pro V1x - Pro V1x will be lower spinning off the driver and long irons compared to Pro V1. This means that a Pro V1x will launch slightly lower than a Pro V1. When it comes to shots into the green and wedge shots, Pro V1 and Pro V1x will perform pretty similarly in spin terms - giving you the best opportunity to control the ball on your scoring shots.

As regards compression, Pro V1 would have a compression of around 90, compared to around 100 for Pro V1x.

    Hope this helps.
