  1. Hi, Last year I was fitted and purchased a new set of AP2s from American Golf and am very pleased with my new irons.I have also recently been looking to buy a new 910 D2 driver on line. I unfortunately came across SHAKEGOLF.COM who were selling @$149.99 and free shipping. So I placed my order and paid the fee. Subsequently your authorised repesentative in relation to the protection and enforcement of Titleist's Intellectual Property Rights in the UK, namely REACT UK, has informed me my 'new driver' has been detained by UKBA at Coventry are will be destroyed as it has been recognised as a counterfeit product. Obviously I do not want a counterfeit product and realise that this was not the exceptional bargain that I had hoped for. however I am writing to Titleist UK to hope that you can seek out SHAKEGOLF.COM and ensure that this fraudulent website advertising much new Titleist golf equipment is removed from the WWW as soon as possible. With best regards, Kevin Goode

    Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your post, as it brings up a very important subject!

Unfortunately we have seen an increase in the number of rogue websites offering counterfeit golf products, including Titleist and www.shakegolf.com is an example. We have had some success in closing a large number of such sites and will continue to take action where possible.

Acushnet takes a very serious approach towards any infringement of its intellectual property and, incooperation with some other equipment manufacturers, tackles counterfeiting head on. The website http://www.keepgolfreal.com/ will provide further information. You've personally experienced one of the measures that we've taken, working together with the UK Border Agency to reduce the number of counterfeit Titleist products entering the UK.

Our best advice is that to be sure you receive a genuine Titleist product, purchase from one of our authorised retailers.

Unfortunately, in these situations the old adage rings true - if it looks too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true!

    Thanks for your continued support.

    - Neil

If the driver was purchased with a credit card it would be worth attempting to get a refund through them.

If you are unsure about a website selling golf clubs you can check out who registered the domain and in which country using a WHOIS query.

To do this go to a website like http://whois.domaintools.com/  and type in the web address. If it is registered in China or the address information doesn't tally with the address on the website or there is no information I would be incredibly careful dealing with the site.

If in doubt, don't risk your money.
