Time has come to say good bye to my old DCI oversized irons with standard shaft and look forward to a new long golfing life with another set of Titleist irons. My handicap is dropping faster than the Euro and I was wondering which set of iron to go for? The CB 712 are a great looking iron and in tests I have been striking the ball very well with them, I even love the thin line and smaller head size and sole. They seem more in keeping with my old Cavity back DCI's. However people are saying I should go for the AP2's. To be honest I don't like the look of these from any angle. Would it be wrong to go for the CB's? My handicap is now 16 and I have already dropped 9 shots this year, including a few rounds in the 70's. I'm looking to get down to 12 this year and single fingers in the following years. Am I barking Mad to perfer the CB's with a KBS tour shaft over the AP2?

Dont be put off the cb's tim. I tried them before purchasing my ap2 irons a few months ago. They were fantastic. I just bought the ap2 because i wanted more forgiveness in trying to get my handicap down. To be honest i hit them both the same though with the ap2 being a tad more forgiving. Like you i prefer the look of the cb irons but have got used to the ap2 in no time. I play off three which is bit lower than you but again dont let that put you off trying the cbs. Sounds like you are striking the ball consistantly well which is what its all about and if you are capable of rounds in the 70's then you could use either in my opinion. Best to get fitted properly though. Cant say how important that is. And a trip to The titleist fitting centre would be ideal for that. Good luck with the golf and your new sticks!

Thanks for the feed back Brett, I'll take another look at the AP2 before I make my final choice. Timbo

Tim - I had a set of AP2's briefly before moving to a combo set of cbs and mbs. If you prefer the look of the cbs to the AP2s and hit them ok then I'd go with the cbs. If you don't and buy the AP2s you might always regret it and in my experience, it's always better to go with something that you like the look of!
