Tested New Prototype ball against a current model Pro V1x yesterday on my course in wet conditions.
// Off the Tee // definitely noticed less spin from my 910 D2, could hit it straighter with about 2.5% more distance.
// 3 wood, Hybrid// again less spin and lower penetrating flight 2.5% more distance
// Iron shots// I would say I got a bit better ball flight, lower but more or less same distance maybe a couple extra yards
// Approach shots and wedges// this is where the ball really comes into play for me, felt so easy to control and just dropped and stopped on the greens but with wedges it just spun like crazy...! I normally get a lot of spin anyway but with this it went crazy on the soft greens. On one shot from 90 yards out the rough the ball pitched 7 feet from hole but spun back on a slight down hill green to about 30 feet...! I then 3 putted to make a bogey which is another story with this ball...
//On the green// Has a completely different feel to the old ball so took a lot of getting used to, I use a scotty cameron and with the prototype I had to give it a bit welly to get moving. I average 1.9 putts a hole and is the strongest part of my game but with this ball I was a bit out of sync!! practice, practice, practice.
Overall I preferred this prototype as it didn't cut up as easy as the Pro v1x, normally one wedge shot and I have huge cuts on the ball but this ball just scuffed only slightly.
Thank you Team Titleist for the balls.
