Slightly late in posting but a few weeks ago I managed to play Gullane Golf Club No.1 Course (host of the 2018 Scottish Open and 2018 Ladies Scottish Open) and it was by far the best course I’ve played so far! Fortunately the weather was absolutely perfect making a links course a little less linksy.

Already started planning a few more trips to Scotland in 2019 to Turnberry, Renaissance, North Berwick and potentially Carnoustie.

    Roll on 2019!

  2. If you are going north to Scotland you have to play Trump Aberdeen. I played it for the first time last summer and it was breathtaking. Also for a cheaper option you should have a look at Stonehaven GC for the drive up to Trump. Strange course set up but the views are amazing.

I definitely plan on playing Trump Aberdeen but probably not next year. And I'll definitely make sure to visit Stonehaven thanks for the suggestion!

    Kirkcaldy,

Trump Aberdeen is amazing to play I played there a few years back. Never played gullane yet. There are so many great courses to choose from between gullane and Aberdeen we really are spoiled for choice in this area

Looks like I'm going to have to make a trip to Trump Aberdeen then! Gullane is a great golf course if you ever get the chance to play it. I got lucky with the weather but if there is some wind and rain about it will definitely be a challenging course!

Scotland has to be one of, if not the best place in the world for golf. Totally spoiled for choice!
  6. Good to know you enjoyed Gullane No.1 Jonathan, it's a top quality course. If you do head back in that direction you won't regret playing North Berwick, it's absolutely tremendous and a couple of levels higher than Gullane IMO.
And as for Turnberry well that trumps (sorry!) everything else, the best course in UK&I for me.

I definitely plan on playing North Berwick I haven't heard a bad word about it! Attempting to find time to play there before the end of this year but that is all weather dependant. Otherwise it will be spring next year.

And Turnberry is just a must!! I absolutely can not wait to experience it.

The list of courses to play just keeps on growing.

Dozens of great courses in Ayrshire, some at some great prices for a round : )
