As the title says.."Golf is difficult enough" ...without having to contend with the conditions that myself and playing partner Declan F found ourselves in yesterday morning. ..Funny thing about it , I was -1 after 6 holes in thick fog....Once it cleared I started playing crap again :)

We had similar conditions on Sunday at our course and I got a magic two on the first then the fog cleared and booom back to my normal game.

There's always next week my friend. At least your getting out there and playing. Fingers crossed for a good round next time.

  8. Perhaps it's a common characteristic that we all play better when we can't see what we're doing!!!

My partner and I had to walk off...our 7:20 tee time meant that the first 6 holes was played in such dense fog that the visibility was barely 30 yards and the fog just wouldn't clear. After a few close calls, we took the painful decision that it was unsafe :-(

It was very dangerous Sunday too....but it didn't take too long to clear Thank God.

I had a round like that a few years ago. For the first 12 holes you couldn't see more than about 100 yards, vague shadows up to about 130yards and then nothing. I managed to shoot a gross 75 off a then 18 handicap. Immediately got cut 7 shots. Only broken 80 once since. I love this game, it can be so ridiculous.

That's great shooting....It sure is a funny old game....
  14. Not so much the fog which was the issue for me this weekend, but the low sun. We set off At 8am and we have the sun in our eyes for pretty much the front 9.

Game and score held up. Shot 37 points and managed a 5 over par 74.

Not complaining the sun was out though, nice to see it.

Totally agree...a low sun in the sky is just as tough......Great shooting.

It sure is ......that and frost too :)
  18. Luckily last week during the fog we had an old sea captain playing in our little roll up. One blast of the whistle fairway clear, two blasts green clear All eight players returned uninjured
  19. I have to say, I don't regularly carry a whistle in my bag... Do you have a lot of fog or are your crew just very well prepared???
