We have had The Players and await The Masters, having whetted my new season appetitte I had a rush of blood with a keyboard in front of me and over the past week have replaced my 917D, 917F and 917H with a new TS driver and two 818 Hybrids. Later in the week my set of a competitors forged irons were replaced by AP1 718 irons.

Now I will admit Im feeling kind of pleased with myself as the new season approaches. BUT in 44yrs of playing this game I have never been properly fitted for any clubs I have bought, playing off 13 I always thought these events were for "the Better Player"....I have regular shafts on all my equipment but at 58yrs I suddenly thought if it may be time for a Senior flex......my question ...would it be worth me attending a Titleist Fitting day (Central / West Scotland), and get checked out or would there be no point as I am now in possession of all my new equipment .....

P.S after recieving the AP1s it was good to change my TT profile ......everything in the bag all Titleist again.....feels good

Congrats on all that new kit - sounds brilliant.
Think you should go to a fitting day - It's obviously in your mind!
I'm older than you and always go for fitting. It's not about age or handicap, it's about what fits you. Shafts may say "Regular" but there are variations to that broad category, and you may be better served by Flat or Upright depending on your height etc. Just because you're over 50 doesn't mean you automatically need Senior flex...
A fitting session is a really great experience - other than a lesson, when else to you get the full attention of a pro and a full set of toys to play with??

Congrats on your new gear Madhatter.

You should attend a Titleist fitting and get input on your new AP1s. At least you'll get to compare numbers and fitter input as per your shaft choice and swing speed. My bet would be that the fitter wouldn't recommend senior shafts.

A fitting would really help if you’ve never had one before although you may find that some adjustments may be needed to your recent purchases...
  6. Definitely recommend a fitting, I was playing with wrong type of clubs (lie) for a few years. After getting my set of ap2’s I’m down to 6 handicap and plan is to half this by the end of year.

Yes, absolutely get fittted! I'm like you, getting a little older and leaking a little distance. My last fitting was into 714 AP2's and I asked about graphite, going regular versus stiff. I got fitted into a little lighter steel shaft, KBS Tour stiff and at 60 still getting it out there OK. Do the fitting, discuss your goals and have an open mind. A good fitter will steer you in the right direction.

Thanks for all your kind words, looking to find a suitable Titleist Thursday.
