    Hi,

    I'm getting down to my last 2015/16 ProV1x stock which I had hoarded as I've not got on with the more recent incarnations of the x. From what I've read in various forums etc, it sounds like the -ProV1x (Left Dash ProV1x) might be the answer - is it available in the UK?

    Never seen these (left dash ProV1x) - nothing similar showing in either "Balls" or "Shop my Titleist" above.
    Where did you come across them?

    Hi JT,

    They were a tour only version of the ProV1x, which was developed after they changed the flight characteristics of the ProV1 & 1x in 2017 to give back a high launch/low spin version of the x that matched how it was originally (at least that's my understanding of the -ProV1x).

    It's out at retail now in the US, hence hoping we can get it here too.

    The difference in distance off the driver for me between my stockpiled 2015 ProV1x and the current 2019 x is around 10 yards. I also like the "clickier" feel off the putter of the 2015 too.

    Thanks for the info - I find it is genuinely interesting, though I imagine some might consider it esoteric.
    Think I too would be disconcerted to lose 10 yards because of a change in ball construction.
    On occasion, UK&I TT contributors have been facilitated by like-minded TT contributors in the US, though this is more common amongst the Titleist hat collectors!
    If all else fails, you might find somebody to bring some back from their US holiday!!

    Thanks, and yes, I suspect it is a little esoteric for most!

    It's probably as much that I don't like to change my equipment if it's working for me (I have spare 716MB & CB sets as they are my preferred irons) and I'm gutted as I just caved in the face of my 913D2, which had clearly had enough of hitting those 2015 ProV1x balls at high speed!

    Great minds on the US contacts, I'm already seeing who I can tap up that I know in the US. Failing that, a good excuse for a holiday!

    There was an article on My Golf Spy about left dash Pro v1x earlier this year and my original post on TT UK&I was not approved by Admin as these were not going to be available in the UK.

    At the TT day at East Sussex National we discussed this with the Ball Specialists and their view was that the left dash was aimed at the 5% who needed a low spin but had a high swing speed, and that on the European Tour there were only a couple of players using it with many who tried it switching back to Pro V1.

    If you need the low spin off the driver/long irons then AVX is worth a try, but if you like high spin around the greens the 2019 Pro V1 is still the best option. I've switched from AVX to Pro V1 as 2019 is better off the driver than the old model.

    Alternatively get a fitting from Titleist (rare but worth it).

    Thanks for the reply - I seen that article and that's the one I linked in my reply to JT above.

    I was lucky enough to win a place on a ball fitting day in Aberdeen at the start of the year here on the TT Forum but it was cancelled due to bad weather and there's not been another I've been able to make all season. Hopefully I'll get to one before next season and see what they come up with!

    I've tried the AVX (my playing partner uses it) and it was too soft, and I've tried a couple of sleeves of both the 2019 ProV1 and ProV1x with the ProV1x the closest as I like the higher launch.

    I don't put myself in the 5% category, but I really get on with my 2015 ProV1x and if these had been available I was keen to give them a go.

    I'll see if I can get one of my friends in the US to track some down and send them to me!

    Likewise I was due to do the 2019 ball test at Woburn and it snowed on that weekend, and likewise I'd like to give the left dash a go. I'm guessing the market outside of the US is so small it wouldn't be viable and if they are a 5% market option there could be adverse comments about Pro V1's if they got into the hand of the uneducated.

    I played AVX last year and the beginning of this until I got the dozen test 1 & X's and switched back to the Pro V1. I need a lower flight and at my hybrid fitting I tried the TS4 for it's lower spin, again a 5% market option, and the fitter suggested I change the Surefit weights in my 917 rather than go TS4, and it's worked for me.

    If I recall the ball fitters at TT day, Lee Slattery who was one of the European Tour pro's playing left dash and unfortunately he's now lost his card.

    Who knows the EXP-01 might be the answer...

    Hi Chris,

    They're available to order from Titleist retailers in the US with a ball account from Oct 1st and some are also carrying stock.

    Hopefully if they prove popular they'll come to the UK!

    UPDATE - They're now here in the UK!

    I spotted the -Pro V1x (Left Dash Pro V1x) on the Titleist UK website at the weekend, ordered a dozen and they've just arrived. Not sure when they went up on the site, but I was really happy to see them available for order.

    I'm going out for a few holes tonight so will try them out against my 2015 Pro V1x and see if they give me the same high launch/low spin characteristics. If so, there'll be a few dozen getting bought!

    Just to confirm, these are identical in feel and performance to the 2015 Pro V1x (high trajectory/low spin), before Titleist switched up the flighting on the V (now low trajectory/low spin) and the X (now high trajectory/high spin) from 2017 onwards.

    -Pro V1x (left dash) vs 2015 Pro V1x

    Same sound and feel off the putter, roll the same distance.

    Same sound, feel and spin on short chips/pitches

    Same sound and performance (flight/distance/spin) on driver and irons

    Well worth giving these a try if you're looking for a higher flighted, lower spinning (good run out on the driver) ball. Paired with my new TS3 these are an awesome combo off the tee.

    Now to stock up on them as I'm getting down to the last of my last 2015 Pro V1x supply!

    I take it that these comments were after playing a round with the - ProV1x's ?

    I raised these with the ball fitters at last years Team Titleist day at East Sussex National and they said that most of the pro's on the European Tour that tried them had gone back to standard with to their knowledge just one player and I believe he lost his card...

    I've just stocked up with the 4 for 3 offer on the 2019 ProV1's so I won't be trying these unless I find one. w

    Keep us updated as it will be interesting to see how they play in the wind and if you get a chance to try on a launch monitor vs the standard X.

    I ordered a dozen, to try them out for myself and see how they compare with my games and swing speed.

    From what I understand the swing speed is one of the elements that can have an major effect between the varios Pro V balls.

    Just ordered 2 Dozen of the left dash Pro V1 x to try out. Hoping it adds something to my game. I used to love the Pro V1x when it originally came out but switched to Taylor Made Penta 5 for a couple of years (got them for free as part of the national team setup - only reason I switched) . I have been back using the Pro V1x for about 2.5 years now but have noticed it is spinning much more. Will try these out and see how they compare, meant to arrive in today and playing 5 rounds over the next week so plenty of time to evaluate :)

    I tried them for the first time Saturday. I loved the ball flight, but higher than pro V1, bit harder than pro V1 but seemed to keep the long game spin down.

    I look forward to using them over the next few weeks.

    I have used the left dash for a few rounds now but dont think its for me.

    The flight is somewhere between the V1 and 1X but it is harder than both and I have struggled around greens.

    The balls seems to shoot off the putter face which does not suit my game.

    So its back to the PRO V1X for me although I have 3 dozen personalised PRO V's sitting on the shelf

    Had a great fitting last week, real eye opener,
    Joe from titleist knows his stuff. 2k less spin with a seven iron gave a better more controlled flight be pro V1X, and more distance as stays in the air more. Felt great off driver, and like the former feel with putter, reminds me of how the pro V1X used to be more firm..... looking forward to getting in play and have traded some pro V1X in....

    Interesting to hear the comparison against Pro V1x. I prefer a firmer feeling ball, especially off the putter. Will have to pick a sleeve up to test.
