Huge putt for bogey for me after my monster drive gets caught out by the wind and is “pushed “ into the trees......

As someone who over the years was a steady putter and struggled with the long game I would take the drive, saying that I feel I dont hole as many as I used to, auld age I suppose 59 yrs old today......

Both lol but holing putts wins prizes.
  9. making the birdie putt and then backing it up at the next with a rip down the middle rather than in trouble.

Drive for show and putt for die simple really
  11. Long putt - often makes up for some poor shots that preceded it! A great drive is a lovely thing but sadly often spoiled by what comes next. After a great putt, the hole is done!

    Wise words and totally agree
  13. Making the putt that always matters especially when you’ve had a bad tee shot

I've spent too many times finishing with a double, triple or quadruple bogey having nailed a 330yd drive down the middle.

Holing a long putt is a great feeling, if for eagle, birdie, par, bogey or rescuing you from a shocking hole, it's always satisfying and takes great skill.
  15. Long putt? Sorry no idea what that feels like Sometimes I can split the fairway though, so I can relate to that feeling and I like it.
  16. Love them both in equal measure...
When the putter's hot, the driver will often prove wilfully out of sorts and the short game saves my score.
When I'm stripping' it down the middle, I find I can't buy a putt and the "what if...." and "if only..." post mortem begins.
Never truly had a full 18 holes where both are in sync.
Just have to take what the golfing gods deal out.

Has to be ripping one down the fairway nothing beats that flight of a pro v1 flying though the air leaving you a nice short iron in! Working on the putting so has to be the tee shot for me

Long Putt, especially in a pairs match and you’ve done nothing all game and it’s the winning putt.

    Grindelwald,

to me a great shot down the middle of the fairway gives a more enjoyable feeling, while holding a long puts pumps up...
