Confession - I've Missed Practicing

  1. I have to admit that during the Lockdown, I've missed practicing as much as I've missed playing. I usually have a couple of hours on the range one day every week plus an hour or two on my short game on the little practice ground at the club and a (short) session on the putting green. I must confess, I get bored putting and probs don't concentrate on the right things or routines. But overall, I reckon I enjoy the practice as much as playing... Maybe I'm becoming an recluse.... or maybe I just like the peace and quiet and my own company... or maybe it's the banter with the pro's at the driving range... I don't know... Am I - like Tigger??? - the only one?? Or am I "Not Alone"? Is there a Help Group out there? JT

What’s this practicing people keep talking about??
Grip it and rip it lol been my attitude the last couple of years

I keep saying I’ll go to the practice range but end up out on the course having banter with mates lol

It’s a beautiful game that I need to play some much more lol ️‍♂️
  3. El,
No problem with practice through playing.... My mates all operate on that basis.
Perhaps the Range is just another opportunity for me to get at golf related stuff and test new gear - they are a Titleist Advanced Fitting Partner, whereas my club pro seems to favour TM.

When I think about it, I missed other golf-related stuff too - fresh warm scones, toasted teacakes with the Vets, draught San Miguel on the balcony with the blokes discussing Golf Trips to Spain... Stuff we haven't got back just yet.

I miss everything about golf - practice, playing, being outdoors and with friends!
I’m stuck indoors still and arthritis has prevented me from playing even before lockdown. I’d even relish the thought of renting a buggy just to get out and enjoy the company and fresh air...
For now at least there is live golf on TV again.
  5. Steve,
    I know you've been struggling...
No prospects of picking up your bats again??

Must admit I don’t practice much at all really apart from the odd trip to the range one’d a month if that, putting mat in the house (that still looks new and unused) and when I nip out on my own for 9 maybe twice a month..... I need to get my finger out....my games not gona improve itself by just turning up for a medal......JT you’ve maybe gave me the kick up the Archie I’ve been needing.
  7. Tosh,
Didn't mean to sound preach-y... Just wondered if my fondness for the practice ground & driving range was... not to put too fine a point on it - unusual... if not slightly odd. Seems it probably is.
Think the truth of the matter is that I like the idea of lashing off loads of ammo and somebody clearing up after me!

I now need a new carpet in the dining room.

  9. Got to admit I maybe practice a little too much typically have 2 range sessions during the week and a day working on just short game. Have to say though it definitely makes a difference and have definitely missed it . Normally play or practice 6 days a week only typically have 1 day off during the week at the moment
  10. Ian,
    I'm thinking that's quite a workload...

    Afternoon.

I lobe my practice sessions. Today I spent a hour around the green with a 52 in hand and just aiming for a dustbin lid. Been doing that all my golfing career.

Nothing beats working on your game, myself I can’t see the sense in just going out playing a round and being frustrated week in week out with having a problem in your game but not willing to practice.

I guess some people are different and just wanna play 18 holes and go home, but for myself it’s about improving in areas where I’m weak and trying my hardest to make my whole game solid.

Eva way each to there own. Happy golfing fella
