  1. Hi all. Bit confused on the ball ill be using this year. Ive had a ball fit twice now and pro v1 comes out on top. I have a couple of boxes of the new balls and was waiting on the loyalty program to grab some more.

Yesterday, last medal of my winter league. It was very windy and my mate gave me a sleeve of AVX balls to try. I tried the original when they first came out and didn't get on with them but this new version felt superb and the flight was really good.

What to do. another ball fit . Back to trying balls

How many of you are using the AVX and why over a pro v or v1x. Ive not tried left dash yet, dont want to add another pick.

Maybe one good round is not enough to decide? There will always be some give and take so you need to decide whether the lower ball flight of the AVX will suit you most of the time or if the ProV1 will perform better overall. Some people even alternate between the two for different days based on course and weather conditions. I prefer to stick with the same ball but not everyone does. Good luck, they are all great balls.

I was stick between the Pro V1 and AVX for a while - in the end just took 2 of each to the putting and chipping green and let the feel off the putter and wedge decide. However in the end i settled on the Left Dash as preferred the sound/feel and was able to control the speed better.

    Agree with Dale here Michael.

also did you see any difference in the short game ?

maybe worth getting a few grade A AVX balls and spend some time around the practice greens with both balls and see what difference you see on that side of the game also.

good luck tho... another mind game to deal with lol

  5. Thank you guys for your help. I picked up 2 sleeves of avx today so have 6 balls to play about with.

Would love to have some avx for those windy days , but i also think its important to stick with 1 ball for consistency so like dale ill prob just stick with 1 ball.
In scotland so windy more than not

I do hit the ball high at times so was a nice change to see a lower penetrating flight for a change.

Ive not played enough with them to notice shory game spin/check or 100 is yard spin. Greens are soft at the min so reacting similar at the mo.

Im out for a practice tomorrow so going to hit loads of chips and puts to gauge feel.

Cheers guys ill keeps yas posted.

I’m a fan of the AVX but I also keep a few Pro V1’s in the bag and swap out depending on the weather and course conditions.

I’ve been fitted to ProV1x which was confirmed at my club fitting as I need and like the higher ball flight and stopping power. I play at a fairly sheltered course in Cambridgeshire where we don’t get a great deal of wind but when I went to St Andrews last autumn, I was terrible during my first round as I couldn’t cope with the high ball flight and the strong crosswinds. I switched to AVX and played much better and found that ball much easier to control. I’ve still got a sleeve in my bag for the odd windy day we do get but I’ve switched back to the X for everyday golf.

I play with yellow AVX in the winter but have now changed to PRO V1's.

For me it is all about the feel and ball flight for 7 - 8 months of the year.

When winter comes I think everything changes in the UK, as does our games.

I always have a supply of PRO V1X as well if i'm playing on courses with small greens, as I like the additional height plus sometimes if things are not going right, you need a little help with get the ball in the air.

So my advice is not really worth a lot as I keep changing lol
  9. Update.

Back using pro v1's . Off the driver i was more than happy with the avx. Added a good few yards . Mostly role. But just cant beat the short game control of the pro v. Stopping power just to good. Not trying anymore balls

I was always a V1 player until the swap in characteristics and am now a V1X convert. The sound and feel off the face took some getting used to, but the benefits of the flight snd spin were clear. All this was confirmed by the really fascinating online consultation I had.
