Hi everyone! I've been fortunate to land tickets to the Open Championship at St. Andrews! I'm excited because it will be my first time in Scotland. I'm coming over with my family and we'll be touring England the week prior, and just curious if there are some English courses that I should hit up... we'll be in the Cotswalds, London, and then heading North. I've emailed Walton Heath already to see if a Single can get on the course but hoping there's more I can hit up.

My son, 13 years, just recently started playing as well so even if it's a fun course that we can say we played it would be welcome! Thanks in advance for the counsel and recommendations.

I know you will be in St. Andrews during the Open but if you get there before the crowds or stay after they leave, play St. Andrews Strathtyrum Course with your son. Some people don't realize that there are 7 courses in the St. Andrews complex. Strathtyrum is very family friendly, not too long or severe but will give him a nice feel for links golf. Info readily available on the St. Andrews website.
  3. So many courses to choose and lots of variety

The championship courses are fantastic places to play but you will find hidden gems around every corner
