  1. Afternoon everyone!

With the winter weather now well and truly set in and golf balls blending in with the snow, I just wanted to turn your attention to this post that Zack wrote back in February.

All about the best golf ball to use in cold weather.

I am sure a few of you will be wondering if you should use the same golf ball during the colder months, or mix it up a bit? Well, Zack has the answer for you! Give it a read, I am sure a few questions will be answered!

Let me know what you think, and who is going to be braving it when the snow has disappeared.

Thanks for sharing Will. I don’t mind the cold, I just layer up and will be there with my trusty Titleist.

I haven’t been on here for a while but that was a really interesting read. I had seen previously a few suggestions regarding switching from ProV1 to AVX in the winter but never followed it through.
This shows that it may not actually affect anything as the performance decrease would be the same with any ball you choose to play.
The one thing I will be doing is changing to the yellow version as I tried them before and found them easier to track in the sky - hadn’t done it yet as had about 6 dozen balls to lose before buying any more

Really good read thank you for sharing.

It’s funny how the ball loses distance in the cold,

I’m so guilty of thinking I know the yardage to the green at my local course, then you come up shorty by a clubs length.

I will always play a pro v1 all year round and have no intention of changing during the colder month.

Thanks again Will for the share.

Played this last weekend in freezing conditions. I decided to try a coloured, softer feeling ball than my usual Pro V1 as a. it was so cold, b. spin wasn't an asset given how the greens were and c. didn't want to lose any under leaves or in frost patches!
Worked really well so will carry on until the weather warms up!

Interesting Will, it’s funny but I’ve picked up a few found AVX over the years and already thought they were a decent choice for the cold/frost!
  7. Hi Will. I play most winters in the winter league at my club up here in Scotland and definitely have to contend with all sorts of weather, especially snow and frost. We play on winter greens if it’s really bad and as you can imagine it’s only for the brave or daft, as we say up here. Tee shots always look good till the ball hits the deck and then you just wait on the bounce! . Play ProV1 and really appreciate the green balls now for ease of seeing in the air plus finding when you miss the fairway and end up in the heather. Interesting point about rotating a couple of balls in your pockets to stop them from getting too cold and I also use these disposable hand warmers to help keep them warm as well. If I’m not mistaken, I also believe Gary Player once said that when playing in the UK and especially Scotland that he used to use these hand warmers as well to keep the ball warm, as he noticed how different the ball performed over here in the cold and that was in the summertime!!! .

I play the same ball all year round (Yellow Pro V1x) I find the short irons don’t lose too much distance in the winter as not travelling as far through the air.
Just wish our course would open, it’s been shut with snow and ice !

Thanks Will, only had this conversation at the club recently. Told them not to change ball based on information I learnt at TT events this year.
  10. Great to hear that you are spreading the new found knowledge that you took away from our events! Glad it has made a lasting impact.

I play the same ball no matter what day of the year it is, yellow pro v1 balls, they have never let me down. ️‍♂️
