For players that are 5’6” or shorter - which includes many LPGA players, I see many on the LPGA playing clubs with substantial choking down on the grip. Brooke Henderson had used a 48” long driver shaft but chocked down several inches. Driver length is now limited to 46”.

Would this be from being used to buying off the rack clubs that are geared to taller players or is this a definitive choice to have an effect similar to a counter balanced shaft? On full shots, I prefer gripping the club at the top of the shaft. Just me.

I would guess it’s more from taking up the game as a kid with small hands. Anthony Kim was probably the most exaggerated PGA player I saw doing it. The grips being thinner at the bottom make gripping in the fingers easier with small hands, even with undersized grips.
  3. Brooke Henderson has great balance and swing path, she can hit anything.
  4. I'm 5' 7" and hit standard length clubs, upper body and arm length play into the fitting process. The availability of more top of the line grips in undersize -1/64 in golf is a welcome change. The Golf Pride HQ is near me and undersize is better for based on finger length not hand size. So many moving pieces....
  5. Getting fitted is the best option for length of clubs based on your height. You can always grip down on the club if buying off the rack and you are shorter. Getting fitted will also evaluate what type of shaft you should be hitting from graphite, steel and flex based on swing speeds.
