Bekker prevails at Sun City Challenge

“I was trying to remember all the good rounds and good shots that I played before, because there’s a lot of pressure out there.”

These were the words of Titleist golf ball loyalist Oliver Bekker (Pro V1x), shortly after he earned his fourth career Sunshine Tour title with a one-shot victory at the Sun City Challenge.

The win is a big surprise, to be honest. I haven’t been playing the best golf, but I found a little something and I was trying to rely on that.”

Bekker carded a final-round 3-under-par 69, which included five birdies in six holes (5 through 10), to pull clear of his nearest competitor with whom he shared the 36-hole lead.

Bekker finished with a 6-under-par 210 victory total, topping a leaderboard that included four Titleist golf ball loyalists among the top five finishers.

Titleist golf ball loyalist Ockie Strydom (Pro V1x) closed with a 5-under-par 67 to finish two shots behind Bekker while Titleist Brand Ambassador Danie Van Tonder (Pro V1x) was the only other player to finish under par, placing solo 4th at 1-under-par 215.

Titleist Ambassadors Louis De Jager (Pro V1x) and Jbe Kruger (Pro V1x) tied for fifth at even par.

TITLEIST BY THE NUMBERS

Titleist was the most relied upon golf ball at the Sun City Challenge with 89 players trusting a Pro V1 or Pro V1x, more than four times the nearest competitor with 20.
