It was a Titleist 1-2 finish for the second consecutive week on the LPGA Tour, as Titleist golf ball loyalist Carlota Ciganda (Pro V1) topped Alison Lee (Pro V1x) with a birdie on the first hole of a sudden death playoff at the LPGA KEB Hana Bank Championship in Incheon, South Korea.
Last week’s runner-up, Titleist golf ball loyalist Shanshan Feng (Pro V1x), finished in a tie for 3rd place, two shots out of the playoff.
Ciganda stormed from five strokes behind Lee, the overnight leader by three over Feng, to five strokes ahead with six birdies through the first 10 holes.
The win marks the first LPGA Tour victory for the 26-year-old from Spain, who has won three times on the Ladies European Tour and represented Europe in the last two Solheim Cup competitions.
“It means the world me. It’s pretty nice to win here in Korea where women's golf is so big,” Ciganda said after the victory. “It’s been a long journey. I love competing and playing and being an athlete. I couldn't ask for a better life.”
Both Ciganda and Lee finished regulation play at 10-under-par 278.
Nine of the 12 players who finished among the top 10 and ties relied upon a Titleist golf ball for their success.
TITLEIST BY THE NUMBERS
Titleist was the top golf ball choice at the event with 55 players trusting a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball for their success, nearly eight times the nearest competitor with seven.
The win was the 18th for Titleist golf ball loyalists on the 2016 LPGA Tour, more than four times the nearest competitor with four.
