Goydos is back in the winner's circle

"My game is like a jack-in-the box, kind of keep spinning it and it pops up every once in a while.”

This is how Titleist golf ball loyalist Paul Goydos (Pro V1) explained his return to the winner’s circle after closing with a spotless 3-under-par 69 at En-Joie Golf Course in Endicott, NY to capture the DICK'S Sporting Goods Open.

"There was no inkling that I was going to play well,” joked the self-deprecating Goydos, “other than the mythical law of averages. Things hadn't gone well, hadn't played well, my attitude was bad, so naturally I won."

Goydos finished at 14-under-par 202, good for a two-shot margin of victory over fellow Titleist golf ball loyalist Wes Short Jr. (Pro V1x).

The win marks the third career PGA TOUR Champions title for Goydos.

Titleist golf ball loyalist Neal Lancaster (Pro V1x) was solo third at 11-under, while John Riegger (Pro V1x) tied for fourth, another shot back.

In fact, Goydos topped a leaderboard that included eight of the top 10 finishers relying upon Titleist golf balls for their success.

THE COUNTS: Titleist was the most relied upon golf ball with 59 players trusting a Pro V1 or Pro V1x, more than six times the nearest competitor with 9.

The win by Goydos was the 13th for Titleist through the first 14 events on the 2016 PGA TOUR Champions.
