Lehman Trusts New Pro V1x to Capture 10th PGA TOUR Champions Title

Playing the New Pro V1x golf ball, Titleist golf ball loyalist Tom Lehman closed with two birdies and a par en route to a 7-under-par 66 and a one-shot win over playing partner and Titleist Brand Ambassador Steve Stricker (Pro V1x) at the Tucson Conquistadores Classic.

Lehman, who finished with a 20-under-par 199 victory total (66-67-66) for his 10th PGA TOUR Champions victory, also established a new 54-hole tournament record, breaking the previous mark of 16-under par 200 set by Titleist golf ball loyalist Woody Austin last year.

The 58-year-old Lehman won for the first time since the 2015 SAS Championship.

Stricker, making his tour debut, was trying to become the 19th player to win in his first start on PGA TOUR Champions and first since 2014. His second round 10-under-par 63 was the lowest round in tournament history in relation to par, while his 36-hole total of 16-under-par 130 was the lowest 36-hole score in the three-year history of the event.

Titleist golf ball loyalist Bernhard Langer (Pro V1) broke the 17-year old PGA TOUR Champions record for consecutive rounds under par at 32, closing with a 65 to finish solo 3rd at 15-under-par 204. His streak began in August of 2016.

This was Lehman's third professional win in the state of Arizona, an important detail for the Scottsdale resident.

“Where you win and who you beat, those two things are really the things that you think about when you think back on victories,” Lehman said. “So to win here in Arizona, here in Tucson, and then to beat Steve Stricker is something that I’m very proud of.”

Congratulations, Tom!

TITLEIST BY THE NUMBERS

Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball choice at the Tucson Conquistadores Classic with 58 players in the limited field of 79 trusting a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball for their success. That’s more than six times the nearest competitor with 9 and more than all competitors combined.

Ten of the 12 players who finished among the top 10 and ties trusted Titleist golf balls.

The win is the third for Titleist golf ball loyalists through the first four events this season, with Lehman joining Bernhard Langer (Pro V1/Mitsubishi Electric Championship) and Scott McCarron (Pro V1x/Allianz Championship) in the Titleist Winners’ Circle this year.
