Thompson charges to victory at Boise Open

It was a standout weekend for Titleist golf ball loyalist Michael Thomson (Pro V1x) as he fired consecutive 7-under-par 64’s to charge up the leaderboard and capture the Web.com Tour Finals’ Albertsons Boise Open.

“It’s a huge confidence boost, to know that you can do it on such a big stage, on a big level,” said Thompson after the victory.

Thompson birdied five of the first seven holes on his final nine to earn a three-shot victory over playing partner and fellow Titleist golf ball loyalist Miguel Angel Carballo (Pro V1x), who raced up the leaderboard with a closing 5-under-par 66.

“Miguel and I were playing really great,” Thompson said. “We were kind of feeding off of each other. When that happens, it makes golf a lot of fun.”

Thompson finished with a 23-under-par 261 victory total and with the win, he has secured his PGA TOUR card for the upcoming season.

“These four Web.com Tour Finals events mean a lot to all of us - we all want to get our card,” said Thompson. “I hope that this continues to breed confidence going forward. I feel good about my game.”

Titleist Brand Ambassador Andrew “Beef” Johnston (Pro V1x) posted a 17-under-par 267 total to finish solo fourth and earned enough money to secure his PGA TOUR card.

Johnston’s fellow Brand Ambassador and three-time PGA TOUR winner Scott Stallings (Pro V1x) tied for fifth, another shot back, and has made enough money in the first two events to also secure his card for next year.
