Wiesberger Prevails in All-Titleist Playoff in China

"I'm feeling a bit relieved now I have to say. I've had a stretch of really good events the last couple of months and it's really nice to have a trophy again. At the end of the day I’m just glad I got myself into the spot where I could play for the title."

These are the words of Titleist Brand Ambassador Bernd Wiesberger (Pro V1), shortly after capturing his fourth European Tour victory at the Shenzhen International in China.

Over the course of the past eight months, Wiesberger has been a fixture on the front page of European Tour leaderboards, posting eight top-10 finishes in that span, including runner-up finishes at the KLM Open and the British Masters, as well as a T-11 finish at the Olympics.

In Shenzhen, Wiesberger relied on a Pro V1 golf ball and Titleist golf clubs, including a 917 Driver to top fellow Titleist golf ball loyalist Tommy Fleetwood (Pro V1x) in a sudden death playoff.

The 31-year-old Austrian started the final round with a three-shot lead – and eight shots ahead of Fleetwood, who fired a stunning 63 to set the clubhouse target at 16-under 272.

Wiesberger managed to close with a 1-under par 71 to tie Fleetwood’s mark in regulation and force the extra action.

The playoff only went one hole at Genzon Golf Club, as Wiesberger hit his approach at No. 18 to five feet and converted the birdie putt. The victory was Wiesberger’s first in a playoff in four opportunities.

Titleist Brand Ambassador Gregory Bourdy (Pro V1) tied for 3rd place, one shot back.

The front page of the leaderboard included nine Titleist golf ball loyalists among the top 10 finishers.

Congratulations, Bernd!

TITLEIST BY THE NUMBERS

Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball choice at the Shenzhen International with 126 players trusting a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball for their success. That’s more than 10 times the nearest competitor with 12 and more than all competitors combined.

The win was the ninth for Titleist players through the first 14 events on the European Tour, more than four times the nearest competitor with 2.
